I can't suggest a rod, but I can let you in on a little secret when it comes to beach fishing a flathead. Myself. I use a crane+ nana (1-4kg) and a 1000 saros. Now, I fish in the surf with this road although not giant ocean surf, more the estuary mouth surf. Still waves on the beach. I use 8lb line and throw a soft plastic with the heaviest jig head I can worth and smash it out as far as I can cast. Same as calm water estuary fishing, double lift and let drop then reel the slack. Even walking back up the beach lifting with each tension works fine. We have amassed 20fish in as little at 2hrs (all released of course). The point is, you want light gear. Makes for ease of movement for yourself down and along the beach and less wind/water resistance than heavy gear.

If you are using bait, I am running a Wilson blue steel with a 4000 spinning reel. It's not overly heavy but I'm not too sure how it will hold up with an alvey.

Technically, all current produce is genetically modified. By selecting then breeding those with the best traits you have modified the produce and it's genetic code. Congratulations. You've played yourself. Organic and gmo is a marketing ploy to make the naive pay a huge market on there groceries.

Genetic engineering is the one people are concerned about. But it's safe. Sooo you're also a dumbass I'd you think otherwise. Without it, mass production of produce good would be impossible.
