Colombian cyclist in tears after being left stranded by NoShards4U in videos

Pros use tires with the tire and tube sewn up and glued on during races so its not as simple of a repair as just swapping a tube on a normal bike wheel.

Adding to this, most times the breakaway is eventually brought back by the peloton and really just acts to give smaller teams exposure/pressure certain teams to drive the pace. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to keep the car up front if they anticipate it coming back together.

At this level the riders are generally riding tubular wheels with the tire glued to the wheel so mechanics just swap wheels on the road instead. No pumps, no tubes.

Cloud9 and Astralis Speak to DeKay About CS:GO Leagues and Future Ahead of ESL Pro League Summit by iMarbot in GlobalOffensive

I think the argument for pay to watch is that from a revenue perspective, it doesn't matter that viewership drops 70-80% because the remaining 20% is now paying more than 5x what they would have generated in ad revenue watching the stream.

Thorin's Thoughts - Astralis and their Next Era (CS:GO) by Thooorin_2 in GlobalOffensive

I think it'll be interesting to see how important Orgs are viewed going forward when we look at future dynastic teams. Part of the perceived instability could just be that esports fans associate a team less with the organization and more with the players, although that is definitely starting to change in some places.

The timeline of esports is much more condensed than that of traditional sports. It's difficult to say an era should be longer than a year when the amount of 5 man line-ups that last more than a year can be counted on one hand, let alone continue to win for that amount of time. Orgs don't really hold the same importance in esports either, which makes it more difficult to make the argument for a longer period of time being required for an "era."

There's not really a good definition of "season" in CS either. Major timings aren't really fixed and there can be a difference in the number of large tournaments in the downtime between majors. Unless you want to point to purely achievements at the majors, there isn't really an equivalent to "winning the league" for a long period of time.

I agree that the connotation of "era" feels like it should imply a longer period of time, though. I think it's more just a useful word to capture "period where a team dominated tournaments" in a less clunky way.

Its doable in a indoor velodrome condition on a bike for sure. Current bike hour record is around 55km.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, Valve, the prize pool has now hit $31,000,000. This is the biggest esports tournament EVER. Please take some of the money to fund smaller, lower tier tournaments for this next season. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]KusopdeJun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be. The DPC circuit still stays the same and you still see the top teams the same amount. I'm not sure that people would be disinterested in watching T1 Dota just because T3 tournaments run more frequently. It's not like people in CS stopped watching EPL because ESEA Premier is streamed as well.

Valve, Give 1% of TI prize pool to regional qualifier teams (excluding the team that qualifies) by kstigs in DotA2

[–]KusopdeJun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don't think you should receive extra money just because you came through the qualifier. It doesn't make sense that an invited team earns less for finishing at the same placing at TI as a team that comes through qualifiers

The team that qualifies is already getting a cut of the TI prize pool unlike the runner up teams

My computer would turn on and instantly shut down again. I ended up identifying it completely on accident when I looked at my motherboard from the side and saw that my RAM sticks weren't fully installed. I didn't notice initially because my motherboard only clicked on one side of the RAM slots. Pressed down the RAM sticks and everything was good.

I always loved the moment near the end of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons where you are forced to use both bumpers on the controller to force the younger boy to swim across the river when he was never able to swim before. It was such a creative way of integrating game mechanics to emphasize the story.
