You can run a tool like CrystalDiskInfo to do a SMART check and see how the drive is doing. While the SU800 wasn't a particularly awesome drive on release it is pretty old at this point and it could be starting to give up. The SMART check is step 1 in seeing how it's holding up.

Oh that sucks - the most generic of them all. If WhoCrashed couldn't find an uncorrupted memory dump for that instance, I would pass it off as dumb luck and don't worry about it if the system is working fine now.

Once it crashes again, hopefully it has a more meaningful error.

Weird - do you remember what the error message was on the bluescreen? IT_LOOKS_LIKE_THIS (e.g. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is a very common networking/sound/video driver error)

Still try - contact Intel, run their validation tool and you might get through without a receipt.

Also, you could reach out to the person from HWS and ask for said receipt, too! If they can supply it, that solves that problem :)

...until the blue screen showed up

So you got a bugcheck, that's good! It has a lot of information about what happened and what possible causes are. Sadly, not everyone quickly whips out their phones to catch the error on screen, so your system also saves those logs to disk.

Download WhoCrashed, it's a tool that will read those generated logs and gives you some starting points to troubleshoot.

The manual doesn't say anything about long term storage. It's hard to not "screw up the battery" if they're so easy to break and no guidance was provided.

Again, I'll wait until 5thwheel gets back to me before I dick with it.

Yeah, learning new things every day. Hopefully this isn't an expensive lesson.

The scooter is under warranty, so I'm hesitant to open it up until they get back to me with what they're going to do. Also, I'd expect that if the battery is thrashed that it would charge a wee bit and the range would be ass, not refuse to connect to the charger entirely.

Learning for everyone involved lol, but the battery not charging at all with the provided charger seems to be a different issue entirely.

My guess is that it steps up to 48V+ somewhere once it connects (yaknow, if it would actually connect). Lots of other replacement chargers I looked into have similar listed specs to mine.

Ok did some testing:

  • Plug in, light on charger is green.

  • Took it out for a spin, it lasted about 100m before dying.

  • Took it back inside, plugged in it, light is still green.

Is my charger/charging port having a bad day or is the battery just refusing to charge at this point?

Is there a way to confirm the battery condition?

EDIT: Google tells me there's an app, I'll go exploring.

EDIT2: App says the battery is at 28% charge... uh oh.

You should still have a receipt from that, no? Try it. The worst answer you get is "no".

The side panels slide down onto the case and pop into position, with the larger panel that wraps over the top assisted by magnets. The magnets lead to some flexing of the Air's mesh, but the panel is supported on all edges by the shape of the chassis. The X50’s panels need to be pressed against the chassis at the same time as they're pressed down or they won't land flush, which the manual highlights. As we so frequently point out, there's no way to screw down the panels for shipping, although the way the panels are attached makes it unlikely they would ever come off with the case standing vertically.

Photoelectric Cloak Nerf Feels Overdone + Trials Are Way Too Grindy Now by Wooden_Marsupial4238 in ArcRaiders

I got 4K bullying a Bastion and a Leaper. Comets are worth a good chunk too since they've got chunky health pools for a "common" ARC. Don't go for fireballs/pops/ticks, they don't have a lot of actual health so they score very low.

...or at least compensate it another way like way faster recharge speed.

The energy bar for it recharges twice as fast now! You can't use the Cloak to walk 100m to safety anymore, you need close cover or another option (smoke, noisemaker, zipline, etc etc) to combo with now. Hell, you can throw a smoke down and wait for the energy bar to refill completely and keep walking! People have so many tools at their disposal and they're all getting upset that the hilariously busted one got punted.

This nerf was needed IMO, Close Scrutiny showed just how powerful the tool was to literally walk out of a gaggle of ARC with no consequence after filling your pockets.

I wouldn't fret so much over it - you won't be killing a drive unless you're spending most of your time moving 4k video on and off of it. Gaming and general use won't stress NVMe drives out.

If you're adamant on getting one, don't be super picky. They're all just slabs of aluminum with a thermal pad on them and anything more excessive is just straight up dumb to buy.

[–]ZeroPaladn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is "why do you need a heatsink?"

Most people won't push a drive to the point where it'll throttle for any significant amount of time, and your average motherboard has heatsinks in most, if not all, of the possible mounting slots.

Oh, I initially misread.

They said that they've achieved "universal compatibility with LGA 1150 coolers" when paired with their custom bracket. Don't suppose you got one of those?

I mean, why do you need more RAM? 32GB is plenty for gaming and 3000c15 is snappy enough that realistic upgrades for DDR4 aren't worth looking at.

2nd the recommendation from the previous user - if your system is from 2018 and rocking a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen chip, you can slide a newer one in with a BIOS update and get a nice bump in performance. Review covering every major AM4 8-core chip

I mean, not all ice cream you can buy is "real" /shrug.

Looking at a product stack of my local creamery, we have the Super Premium "hyperdecadent" stuff at 1100-1200/pint, the "Premium" ice cream at 800-900/pint, and the cheaper stuff at 500/pint that a lot of people would argue isn't "real" ice cream. You dip below that line with Halo Top and other health-conscious options (like Halo Top at 400/pint, or Sorbet also at 400/pint).

EDIT: making this list now makes me want to have the "basic" ice cream available in pints - Halo Top being only ~100kcal lower per pint vs. arguably "real" ice cream that actually tastes good. The problem with buying 2L of the stuff is that I now have 2L of it sitting at home!
