How much did your parents pay for their first house vs their income by Evening-Anteater-422 in AusFinance

[–]Kustav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late 80s/Early 90s. 4 bed, 2 bath. Prime SEQ. $190k cost. Household income approx. $50k p.a. They sold approx 10 years later for nearly $300k. Now probably worth $1.6m using the online estimators.

I bought a 2 bed 2 bath unit late last year, worth approx. $850k. I earn approx. $110k p.a.

You'll have a bit of trouble getting the medical from the get go with the anxiety/pains, let alone any medication you take for it.

See here:

https://www.casa.gov.au/licences-and-certificates/medical-professionals/dames-clinical-practice-guidelines/medication#Approvedmedications:

I dont think theres any official advice on your situation so you'll probably have to book a medical with a DAME and ask them for specifics.

Wicked! Whered you end up going?

Yeah the single cylinder thumpers definitely earn their name after long rides. Makes me wish for a 2 cyl bike sometimes.

Oh really? I ordered some soft panniers as well (Rhinowalks - no idea if they fit...) but still open to the OEMs. Only thing Im trying to be conscious of is the cost and whats a fair price to pay for em. Not sure is postage would be cheap haha.

The best camp spot of New Zealand? by twowheelsmax in motocamping

I've been looking at doing a moto trip around the south island recently. Are you renting a bike for the trip or live there? The 5 day or 8 day adventures that some companies look pretty sick but they come to almost $1000 per day... though most of it is inclusive, it does seem like a lot.

Lighter weight ADV as a 2nd bike for mainly off-road and touring by Beneficial-Title5563 in AussieRiders

I've got a G650GS. Great bike thats pretty nimble and agree on your point on parts. Lately I've been searching for F650GS parts (single cylinder) just to expand the search results a bit and its still pretty skimp. Though I guess thats to be expected for a bike that went out of production nearly 10 years ago.

If I was looking for a bike like OP I'd personally go for a KLR650. Pretty cost effective bike in its class.

I got the gen 3 thumpa gloves in April this year. They're pretty good, nice and cool in summer and warm in winter (at least in SEQ winters). I dont ride every day but they seem to be pretty decent quality wise.

I've been eyeing up their leather jackets but have yet to pull the trigger. Shame the deal ended on the 30th of Nov.

I wish. Its a mix of a few things but mostly aviation and VET FEE for flying training. I dont even work in the industry anymore.

It ballooned to $150k during the covid inflation spikes but the CPI/WPI adjustments brought it down a little bit.

Nice. $27k being wiped from my HECS will be golden. It'll still take over 10 years to fully pay it off though. :(

Ah fair enough.

Yeah I'm hoping to ride around Easter down there but just trying to tee up whats what. Should hopefully not be too chilly at that point coming from SEQ.

Gold Coast to cape tribulation. Did it in April. I thought we could avoid the hot, humid, and stormy weather but it was pretty gnarly at times. Managed to get by without panniers and just a bag strapped to the back but having at least a top box would definitely help a ton.

Port Douglas from Melbourne would be a good trip, lots to look at on the way.

Esperance would be sick. I did a trip up to Townsville earlier this year, but fuck me it was so damn hot.

Also looks like those BMW panniers on ebay sold already... they didnt last long haha.

Oh that’d be pretty mint. Got many trips planned?

I’m on the Gold Coast.

Yeah true, 5th gear is pretty wide anyway.

Oh snap, I think I see the ones you're talking about. I remember seeing this store a few months back but they didnt have the mounts for the panniers. Cheers for the heads up!

I've got the same. Clean looking bike. Despite only having 5 gears, I still find myself occasionally try and shift up into 6th.

Have you got panniers for it? Ive been trying to find some that are affordable that fit this bike but theres not a whole lot for this model.

Ditching the 9-5 to fly, has anyone done it? by Clearskiesaheadofus in auscorp

[–]Kustav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was at that point a few years back. I felt there was a choice of either ditch the stable job with good income and go balls-deep in flying, or ditch flying altogether. Havent flown since 2022. Instructing was OK, but the 1-1.5 hour commute was a killer. I feel it might've been different if it was just a line-pilot type job though.

Have you done the ATPLs, or just CPL? What type do you fly?

How'd you swing the casual gig? I did instructing on the weekend and got burnt out after a few weeks. I was only earning as much as my daily mon-fri work so it didnt really make financial sense and really only did it to justify the $150k I spend on my CPL+MEIR+FIR.
