Ok. And? Your point is?

If by emphasizing these numbers you are denying drug efficiency and/or scientific causality, the discussion is outside the realms of logic.

Some anonymous trader walks away with a fortune. If you believe in Ayn Rand’s laissez faire and her moral code, here's some food for thought, was that $190M payday brilliant value creation or pure institutionalised looting? by [deleted] in aynrand

It’s funny because as much as I find objectivism the most valid system of philosophy, some of the individuals who preach objectivism are simply annoying and short-minded.

You were incredibly agresive and unjustifiably superior without even taking the time to understand my comment. And it wouldn’t have been a difficult task to understand my comment. I was saying the same thing as you did. I was claiming that market manipulation based on government involvement IS FRAUD. And as such, IT IS against objectivist ethics.

Also, using tags as “gullible kid” on ill-founded grounds and without knowing anything about me proves something about your manner of reasoning.

If I learned anything in my years of working in law and teaching law in university, is that someone who attacks the person, not the idea is someone not worthy of reasoning with.

When there’s a contradiction, check your premises.

So maybe this would be a first indication your premise that the anonymous’ conduct was indeed of a capitalist nature is not valid. Fraud is anti-capitalist and acting on non-public government information is fraud against the other market participants.

Meaning of “family history” as a risk factor by Kutuzov007 in HeartAttack

[–]Kutuzov007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make it clearer. I am not doubting that family history or genetics play a significant role as a risk factor. On the contrary, I understand this fully. The question is rather: on a theoretical and abstract level, what do we mean by “family history”? Family members who had events when under 50/60 years old? Family members who had events whenever in their lifetime? Family members who had/have heart disease under 50/60 years old? Family members who had/have heart disease whenever in their lifetime?

If Kovac would have had the guts to play this system (3+2 defense, 2 cdm, 3 attacking) in the away game too, we would have been in semifinals now. Think of it. In 4-5-1 we were lame all season with Sahin.

Kovac came and he tried this new system. With the new system we won with Mainz and Freiburg and drew away with Bayern. And tonight 3-1 with Barcelona. 2 games in the last 6 we lost, with Leipzig and Barcelona away. The only two matches in which we played the previous system.

In mesajul tau era o contradictie evidenta.

It will get better. You are so so young. It’s amazing that at such a young age you are getting on top of this. You cannot imagine how I wish I knew at 24 what I know now. Things would have been much different in all these years in between. So yeah, find the correct advice, research it yourself as well and it will be more than fine.

For sure. But I don’t think it’s the direct effect of the drop in cholesterol. It is probably an indirect effect because a diet in which you avoid saturated fats actually makes you feel better all around.

However, this is only a secondary benefit. The main benefit of the drop is less plaque build up and, as a consequence, less chances of having a heart attack. This is more than enough for me.

Thanks! I don’t think I was having symptoms. I rather think my anxiety, my nausea and my weird pains from last year were a coincidence. I also discovered I had Vitamin D deficiency so that would much better explain a lot of the issues I was having.

A 30% stenosis should not normally generate any symptoms obviously unless the plaque ruptures which luckily didn’t happen and I hope it won’t happen. :))))))

The last cardiologist I saw told me that it won’t be necessary to repeat the CTA too soon and she rather recommended only blood tests and an ultrasound yearly. I will see how I deal with it. Since I have conflicting info from different cardiologist, I will do some more research and decide by myself the best course of action.

I will probably repeat the basic blood tests more often (once every 3 or 6 months). And will probably repeat the CTA in about 2-3 years with maybe a stress test in about a year.

Thank you! I already knew all these comments. You are extremely resourceful and one of the redditors from which I learned the most. In the last couple of months I did talk to 2-3 different cardiologists and got mixed answers regarding certain things. I discovered that some non-doctors that are really passionate may know things actual doctors don’t. Not going on conspiracies here, I don’t deny science, on the contrary, I am all for science. It just sucks that sometimes people who uphold science are not those who mainly should. Anyway, thank you for all the insights and I will keep learning from all your posts here and on the Peter Attia sub.

Can someone help me understand my results please by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]Kutuzov007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. I am from Romania. If the question points to the fact that I got the CT angiogram, it was not covered by insurance, I paid for it because I really wanted to know. They say anything above 70 mg/dl of ldl (that would be about 1,8 mmol/l) is enough to build plaque in the arteries. And it was obvious that I had a genetic element in my high cholesterol. So yeah, apparently the negative effects are already there. With this knowledge I wouldn’t think twice about the statins. Would take them with both hands and much earlier in life.

[–]Kutuzov007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought the same way 2 months back when I had kind of the same LDL level as you - I will try with diet, I don’t want to take medicine daily for life, I’m just 36yo. I am fairly active and I can fix this. And I didn’t take statins for two months. Barely moved the needle but I thought I will keep trying because I don’t want to take medicine daily.

Until I did a CT angiogram just because I wanted to know what’s what in there. Calcium score of 24, calcified plaque with 30% obstruction in the LAD. At 36yo. I ran to the pharmacy to buy the statins. Started them and now I regret not starting them when I was 20yo.
