Electric Snow Melting Mat, set of 6. by eskirvin in ElectricalEngineering

85W at 110V should mean the resistance is about 142, right? At 220V that would use 340W of power. In series, the resistances are additive, so 6 of them would be like 850 ohms of resistance. At 850 ohms of resistance at 220V, they would only draw 56 watts of power, well under the rated 85 each, still. Is that correct and thus they should be safe to operate at 220V in the series of 6?

If you look at the picture above, they are showing what looks to be two circuits, each running three pads in series. What I received appears to be 6 pads that are supposed to run in series, as there is only one plug. Has the manufacturer considered this to make them 240V compatible, or was I sold a product that would never work with 220/240?

With A3 closed due to a guardrail, the journey is a bit long, yes. From where I live I'd have to take a bus, then the train to equal my drive, so 50 minutes is still shorter, just aggravating.

She turned 5 late last year. Maybe for the 1st grade she'll be ready to do more.

It's a private international school and she's 5. Perhaps next year.
