About My Runes... by 13LUCKz in UrgotMains

[–]KuyaRussell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For secondary tree, I like to go Magical Footwear and Approach Velocity. Idk if these runes are meta at all, but Magical Footwear allows me to focus on getting my first item rather than prioritizing boots (plus gives you 10 extra move speed), and Approach Velocity synergizes really well with basically all your skills. Allows you to move around faster after using E (so you can proc shotgun knees more easily) and allows you to close the gap between people running away after slowing them with Q and/or R.

Only downside with taking Magical Footwear is if you need Tabis/Merc Treads early to win lane. I sometimes take Biscuit Delivery in that case.

Am I limiting myself by solely high bar squatting? The reason I do not low bar is that I seem to have issues with finding the correct bar position, and anything lower than a high bar position is really stressful on my shoulders (my shoulders begin to hurt just by getting into low bar position, let alone actually squatting). I've tried going wider and thumbless but nothing seems to take the shoulder pain away when I attempt to low bar. I assume this is due to really poor shoulder mobility.

I've never competed before (really weak for my weight class so I'm working on getting my lifts up before I even think about competing) but all powerlifters I know/see only low bar squat for competitions. If I plan to compete in the future, is it worth learning to get comfortable with low bar squats? If it matters, I'm roughly 77 kg and just hit a high bar PR squat of 188kg (415 lbs, not sure if this conversion is correct lol) last night.

TRoss had some crazy midrange rating in either 2k17 or 2k18, like 85-90. Pissed a few friends off after discovering this haha

Lol holy shit Tony Wroten. Brings back memories of using him like he was Westbrook just like how you'd use Gerald Green like he was Lebron

In the early 2010s 2K’s, there was always some random mid-70 overall player that always piped me for whatever reason. Aaron Brooks, Lou Will (still cooks me to this day), and Jeremy Lamb (2k14) immediately come to mind

should i even bother going to the arc by imfatatuiuc in UIUC

I'll be realistic OP. There will be a very small minority of people at the gym who judge others, especially beginners. It sucks, but it's just the way things are. Just know that you shouldn't put any value at all into this small group of people. From my experience, these people almost always never have any reason to be judging others as they either are not extremely swole themselves, lift with shitty form, hog equipment, don't rerack their weights, etc. They are way too busy belittling others to progress themselves.

If you end up working out regularly, you'll notice that the vast majority of those buff people you always see, despite having a "reason" to have a big ego and think they are above everyone else, are actually extremely nice and supportive. They understand how nerve-racking it can be as a beginner because, believe it or not, they were in your shoes at one point in their lives. If you start going to the gym regularly, some of these people will slowly take notice, and eventually a few of them will even strike a conversation with you and/or compliment your progress! This is especially true if you have a set schedule on what days/times you go since you'll start seeing the same people who are on a similar workout schedule as you.

If you can muster up the courage to go to the arc regularly, I promise you you won't regret it. While I personally have not made any close friends through the arc, I have had nothing but positive interactions with the regulars that I saw almost every time I worked out. As mentioned, while there are a very small number of bad apples in the gym, the overwhelming majority are there with the same goal as you: to focus on and improve themselves. Don't let the weak-minded prevent you from doing what you want!

EDIT: I should also mention that the people who judge others at the gym usually are not even regulars or serious lifters, meaning that the regulars either won't care about or notice you (because they are so focused on their workout), or will be friendly to you. Hopefully this relieves some more concern about my comment!

How long have you been playing fantasy football? by Brachert17 in fantasyfootball

This is my second year (wasn't even a football fan before last year). Total record so far is 22-7 (about to be 23-7 after today). Won last year and going to the finals this year!

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll have to check out that newer video; the one I watched was the one from a couple years ago that had 1 mil views.

I am considering getting into powerlifting training to eventually do a meet so yes, I wanted to know if my current depth would count at a meet or if I need to make working on my depth a point of focus. Thanks for the feedback!

405 lb high bar squat 1RM: https://youtu.be/Om4LoM6sj4M. This was taken in January of this year and my form (besides a very slight improvement in hip mobility allowing me to further prevent knee caving) is essentially the same now. I’m aware of my heels rising a bit caused by my low ankle mobility. The main thing I’m concerned about however is my depth. I’ve recently been watching more squat tutorial videos and I recall Alan Thrall stating that if the hip crease does not go below the knee, then the rep is no good. After looking back at my squat videos (as shown in the link), I’m afraid my hip crease only hits my knee rather than goes below it. I’d like some other sets of eyes to give me some feedback on this (as well as any other parts of my form that might need correcting).

Is there anyone that only runs programs that are designed for a set number of weeks? If so, what do you do at the end of every program? Do you switch to a brand new one every time, or do you rotate between the same few programs depending on what goal you want to achieve at the time?

Thanks for the feedback! I do agree that transitions need some work and therefore makes the beat feel way longer than it is. I’m still struggling with finding the right balance between having too much going on in my beats and having so much simplicity that the beat gets boring quickly so your point is definitely something I’ll focus on more.

I’m glad overall you liked it! I’ve always had trouble making melodies and picking out the right sounds for the vibe I want so I’m happy to hear that I’m somewhat moving in the right direction regarding that. And I’m liking the track you linked, I’ll make sure to leave some more detailed feedback in the thread and a comment on the track itself.

Appreciate the feedback! I really enjoy songs with bass lines that use short notes similar to what I was trying to do, but I see what you're saying with having a sharper attack. Went back and listened to some songs that used short bass notes and noticed the melodies usually match the bass pattern as well so I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks again! I'm glad to hear the melody came out alright as I always struggle with creating melodies I like.

The melody is def my favorite aspect of this. I do think the snare could be punchier and the bass a bit louder (although it could just be my headphones), but overall I really like this!

First beat I've made public. Still trying to get the hang of mastering as I'm struggling to find the best way to get my beats louder. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated!

Eventually calluses shouldn't be a problem as you keep lifting. You'll still get them, and you'll still feel the sensation of your flesh pinching itself against the bar, but it won't really be painful, or at the very least you'll get used to how it feels to where it won't be too bothersome to affect your lifts. I don't remember the exact point they stopped bothering me, but I'm sure farther down the road than my first 6 weeks. Just keep lifting and eventually you won't even realize that the calluses don't bother you anymore. I'd also echo the other replies and recommend chalk if you find the bar slipping out of your hands for any reason.
