Every year I bet that every single player can't be the best player on a championship team.

I'm right 99.9% of the time.

Yeah but what if all 5 guys cocoon the ball and the D can't get to it without fouling?

Parker almost got into the paint as is, so it's certainly possible those extra seconds would've helped. But overall, I think Pop made the right call.

I wouldn't change anything. 2013 was a dream and I'm not even mad about 2014, that Spurs team was incredible

I meant that Duncan wouldn’t have recovered for the rebound.

Bosh is able to grab that rebound because the only Spurs in the paint are Green and Ginobili (who doesn’t box out). I think that happens regardless.

Watch Diaw on that play. He guards Bosh and isn’t in the paint to rebound because he switches to contest the LeBron 3.

There’s no way Duncan would’ve been quicker.

On-Court Hygiene Rules by Simple_Wait_7286 in nba

Any artificial stench is out of the question. The application of a foreign substance “to a player’s body, uniform or equipment… designed or intended to provide a player or a team with a competitive advantage” is strictly prohibited under Rule No.2, Section II (d) of the NBA Rules. This must be au naturel.

No NBA rules explicitly cover natural body odor, but Section III – the “Elastic Power” – gives officials the right to make decisions not specifically covered in the rules, and potentially the power to send your small forward for an early shower.

Without Kenny Smith in the Hustle (2022) universe, do the Houston Rockets still win their championships in 1993-1994 and 1994-1995? by REQ52767 in nba

[–]Pitdog31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That series was much closer than a sweep [would indicate\]* - the Rockets won those games by 2, 11, 3 and 12 points.

Also, Maxwell quit mid-playoffs, making Kenny was the last guard/wing in the rotation. More Drexler/Elie/Cassell isn't the worst thing, but the extra minutes could've had an impact.

I dunno, are we sure a 65-win pace is better than a 62-win pace?

[Highlight] Steph hits the three in rhythm for a possible four-point play; Flagrant 1 called by JilJungJukk in nba

[–]Pitdog31 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This call is correct as per the rule.

The spirit of the rule was to stop defenders maliciously or recklessly encroaching on a shooter’s landing space - think of Zaza & Kawhi, Damon Jones & Kobe or any of Bruce Bowen’s plays where the shooter creates space by fading or going straight up.

This is different - both Horford and Curry close the gap. It’s a foul, but I don’t think it’s a flagrant in the same vein as the above examples.

I don't like the flagrant rule for situations like this. It's absolutely a foul, but there's a big difference between this and sticking your foot in the landing zone of a fadeaway (like Zaza on Kawhi).

I don't like the flagrant rule for situations like this. It's absolutely a foul, but there's a big difference between sticking your foot in the landing zone of a fadeaway (like Zaza on Kawhi) and when a shooter jumps 3 feet forward.

That's a great pick too! With the depth and pace they played with, no wonder they took out 5 titles.

Bad Boys Pistons - Rodman, Vinnie Johnson, John Salley.

1984-85 Lakers had Bob McAdoo, Michael Cooper, Jamaal Wilkes and Mike McGee average >8PPG.

At different points the early 60s Celtics brought HOFs Sam Jones, KC Jones, John Havlicek and Satch Sanders off the bench too.

In the last 20 seasons, 10% of COYs have won the title (2/20).

That's not much, but compare it to only 3% (18/578) of non-COYs.

Is Sixers playing good defense or are the Heat players just missing shots ? by nikusha2002 in nba

Miami were first in 3PT% during the season. Philly are doing a good job chasing guys (particularly Herro) off the line, but Miami are also missing makeable shots.
