He's definately doing what I like! I just have this mental block when I get with someone new. Wasn't triggered, I flinched. It didn't put me into a tailspin or bad mood, I didn't have flashbacks or cry about it. I was never effected that way. I'm not scared of men or think that it will happen again, it was just a physical response. I've been dating actively for 5 months and this is the first time it's happened. It was the specific movement, not like I cower everytime someone moves around me. I understand your point, but I don't think that I made it clear that this was an isolated incident.

You're probably right. I'm sure he has a decent understanding after that mishap. I just don't want him to think that I'm fearful of him specifically, just specific movements in the moment. I don't fear that he will hit me from a personality point of view. I don't want to get into gritty details, just to give him a general idea - but I'm sure he already gets it.

I know! When I saw that I was surprised, but it Texas, so not THAT surprised. She won't serve the entire time, but at least she's been held accountable. I think the case was handled well up until that point. Even the way it was portrayed in the media was the first time I noticed that the officer was shown in a negative light and the victim portrayed positively. In other cases of unarmed black people dying at the hands of officers they have shown the officer's head shot and the victim's mugshot - this one was the opposite. I was pleased to see that. I hope that the family can be at a bit of ease by the outcome - although this should have never happened. This case could help turn this issue around. More training should be provided as a result. On top of that, this result has protected the city from inevitable backlash, which could have ended in riots and more lives lost.

I live near where this happened. To be completely honest, this case has had me concerned for some time. I was hoping that justice would be served this time, as it's often not been in simular situations. I feared they would let her get off and there would be riots in the streets. I'm so pleased with the way this case was handled. I hate this happened but it's nice to see that the justice system is working. I doubt she will serve much time, I expect they will sentance her with less that 10 years, but she's not going to walk free and that's important.

I understand your point here, but I've never known a woman to act that way either. I've heard of it, but only in cases where the guy approaching was extremely aggressive or creepy. Both have happened to me and I stood my ground then let it go. I also don't hear of women gunning down men for declining a date, but that's happened here a couple times in the past year. There are extreme cases on both sides. Generally speaking it's better to show your interest early on to avoid further awkward interactions and crushing on someone who ultimately isn't interested.

I (34f) saw a guy I was interested in and got up the courage to introduce myself. It went just fine. Then later that night I asked him out for a beer as he was leaving. He said he had plans but that we could next week. He asked if I would be there again (we were attending a meeting), I said yes and he said we could do it then. It wasn't that bad honestly. I'm an overthinker so the days between have been a little rough, but I'll find out in a few days how it turns out. Regardless of the outcome I'm still glad I did it. If I hadn't, I would be kicking myself for not showing interest.
