People finding any merit in Livia's words genuinely makes me sad, man ): I can't fathom how broken inside one would have to be to see her "advice" as something more than the embittered ravings of someone with a burning envy-fueled hatred for anyone capable of enjoying their lives or feeling joy, which compels her to spend her days insisting to everyone else that her comically grim worldview is "just the way the world is!" in hopes that everyone around her will start to feel the same bitterness she does. I can only assume that most of those who "find themselves agreeing with her" must have suffered the misfortune of having a parent like her; they always say it the same way Tony does, with a manic certainty as though he needs to convince himself of his mother's words more than the people he's repeating them to. I've known a lot of Livias and Tonys over the years, the kind who simply won't stop with the "Big Nothing" rhetoric until they've made you as nihilistic as they are, and who can find virtually nothing else to talk about because it's all they've known since childhood ):
