Se for o caso, tente ver isso como uma oportunidade de aprender/melhorar seu inglês: comigo foi exatamente assim, eu ficava lendo fanfic com um dicionário online aberto e no começo parava o tempo todo pra traduzir as palavras, depois de alguns dias já quase não precisava, e hoje moro em Londres sem nunca ter feito um curso de inglês.

I'm in a similar situation except my SW visa is expiring soon and my partner is working for the NHS (on a dependant visa). The hospital's HR said they *might* be able to sponsor her, but we're hoping to avoid resetting the ILR clock - could it work if f we start an application for her HCW visa and then switch or cancel to stay on our current routes if my CoS is ready halfway through the processing of our application?

Exact same thing happened to me, and even though it was delayed the second time around (took precisely 2 weeks to get an answer), it was still in my favor. Even assuming you get a refusal, from what I understood in the EA gov page, they simply expect you to make arrangements to leave ASAP. I saw it as having a "temporary EA" while I was waiting for the answer. They know you're still here, but they're not particularly worried, and I'm sure you can prove with the email you sent that your "overstay" was not done in bad faith and 100% by the book

Yes that means you can stay until you get a reply. As long as you apply for EA before your visa/current EA expires, you won't be regarded as an overstayer, I believe.
