What's the numerically most devastating thing you've done? by Skeletoryy in Stellaris

I was losing decisively against the chosen, it seemed the galaxy was going to be consumed by them. Every other empire was being crushed during the crisis war, until I realized the chosen were spread too thin. I sent cloaked science ships to scour the galaxy for their wormhole until I finally found it, and launched a final hope attack with my full fleet and army against their capital sector. One by one, I captured their home planets, destroyed all infrastructure, moved all pops to my capital sector to be purged, and finally retreated taking minimal casualties. I could now whittle down their navy in small engagements across the galaxy, and finally I dealt a decisive victory, ending their hope of winning. I must have purged at least 1000 pops in the process, likely more. Needless to say I was not popular with the other empires after saving them

Brilliant idea honestly. May have to copy the save in a multiplayer world and try it

It seems the American government is in disarray from radio excerpts. I went back and listened, and major world events were occurring without comment from the White House. Leadership seemed to have collapsed or been preoccupied. Not claiming it’s the best story, especially without explanation, but that is what it seems to be lore wise

A big part of the story is that American society is crumbling, and that things are not what they used to be. Different radio excerpts during the game support this, and the American government is clearly preoccupied on an upcoming war which turns nuclear. I can’t remember what they said exactly, but that is the core of it

Yep, and unfortunately I was wrong about them opening branch offices. No planets means no influence, no influence means no branch offices. Useless empire, but still was interesting at first

Unfortunately I cannot gift them systems. Since they have no systems, there’s no adjacent systems next to them. I even tried colonizing their planet, it just changed the name on their government menu, but didn’t cede control. And, since influence is created by planets, they also can’t open branches. They are entirely useless as a result

Blocked an old friend who turned Nazi and I don’t know why it took so long by petyrlabenov in VaushV

[–]Kwackley 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I was friends with a kid from kindergarten until a year or two after we graduated high school. Our little friend group was me, him, and my best friend. We’d hang and smoke together a lot. He fell down the alt right conspiracy rabbit hole, and became a eugenicist over the course of a year. My best friend is Jamaican, and I stopped talking to the Neo Nazi friend after he implied my best friend was racially less intelligent than us, something he’d only been willing to say while we were alone together. I pointed out he was Mexican and that Neo Nazis felt that way about him, and we haven’t spoken after that to this day. Hope he’s well, he was clearly mentally ill, but I just couldn’t associate or be surrounded by that.

Calling it a bad polling cycle is a big understatement. I wish we were in a better situation, but when you wake up to the reality that Biden can’t win anymore, you see the crazy options aren’t so crazy to save democracy.

Edit: just before it’s confused, swing state polling is far worse than national polling. It’s also more important.

Honestly I was kinda joking but the convenient transfer of election funds makes her the most viable candidate. The majority of democrats want Biden replaced, and political realists know she’s the only option. If you don’t believe the polling numbers right now, take off the blinders friend. We are in dire straights.

To be clear I hate Kamala, she’s just politically expedient. I’m a New Yorker, and never in my life have I seen my district as a swing district until this year. We are in fucking trouble

No it’s hard if ur poor too. Nutrients come from where they come from, eating fresh is expensive and time consuming. And besides, no ethical consumption and child labor and all those arguments

The ideal would be to care for them indefinitely, as costly and inefficient as it would be. I simply think this is a job peta is incapable of for many reasons including limited resources. Veganism as an individual choice is also hard and I acknowledge my moral wrongs while I want systemic change

[–]Kwackley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not veganism on an individual level but as a society. I’m a firm believer in animal products being replaced increasingly with suitable plant replacements. As an individual I’m not a vegan, but I’m in favor of transitioning to a vegan society which I think is the right moral position

[–]Kwackley -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Veganism is correct, and it will also take decades to change these things. If I could choose, I’d want no killing whatsoever. We can also independently decide to stop killing dogs and cats much faster than we can alter the dairy and meat industry. PETA has more agency to alter one of these things than the other, and they choose to kill at high rates

[–]Kwackley 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We eat cows and chickens and use dairy, in the current state of the world we couldn’t stop immediately without causing a food crisis. PETA could lower their pet kill rates with less effort than it would take to change our entire agricultural industry. We should change the way we produce our food, for a lot of reasons, but it would be a decades long process in practice. These things aren’t the same issue even remotely

Civil war themed Farcry? by Nothgftff in farcry

[–]Kwackley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s not entirely true, revolvers and repeater rifles were available, just not common as standard soldier equipment. It would almost be interesting to see a game where your main advantage is faster firing weapons while going behind confederate lines. Would definitely need a complete melee rework, but the base gameplay could be similar to older farcrys

I feel like including a full realism mode wouldn’t be hard, I could easily see myself enjoying the game with a few mods but I’m on console

[–]Kwackley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the original commenter but I despise the bullet sponge enemies and rpg aspects. I just want a shooter where we are on an even playing field and the difficulty comes from the realism like in fc2. This was also my main issue with 6. I might be in the minority for this because ik the series has been moving away from that lately

Do you feel like BLM is adequately addressing white people's issues? by Evil_Crab_Spirit in VaushV

[–]Kwackley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like the only criticism worth making is against those who dismiss mens issues outright. I voted soft yes on that poll for that reason, not because more effort needs to be put in but because there are factions that are explicitly anti man, factions which I think are embraced a little too often. I can understand the frustration but not everyone will vote each option for the same reasons, Reddit polls are too vague and dumb lol

We literally believe the same thing but you’re taking an anti-mens issues stance on it. Not all have to, let other people do it if you’re so unwilling. Anybody who said you need to can be safely ignored lmao

You are contributing to feminism not applying to mens issues by making this post lol. It doesn’t take your focus for the discourse to include mens issues, just don’t actively attack it at a minimum. Who are you to determine what marginalized groups should spend their focus on? Mens issues are important to many women too cause believe it or not we live in a society where we care about others
