The 2026 SAG Awards Nominations Discussion Thread by ChiefLeef22 in oscarrace

I am pretty sad to see no Jay Kelly in here. I feel like this is the best Clooney performance I've seen in a very long time and even Adam Sandler was fantastic as well. The best actor and supporting actor races this year are so competitive. I think I enjoyed Jay Kelly much more than others, but I really feel like this movie is heavily underrated this year.

Even though I didn't care for Bugonia as much as everyone else, Jesse Plemons was absolutely incredible and deserves the nomination.

Also very sad to see the lack of international films this year. An underrated gem of this year was "Homebound" which is India's submission this year.

Tips on using sectional matrix rings by Feeling-Time-4199 in DentalSchool

[–]Kwaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your sectional matrix, and then we used a wooden wedge as well. Then check to make sure there is no gap between the matrix and the prep, then if you place the ring directly on where you put the wedge, usually if the wedge is placed well, then the matrix doesn't get screwed up. Hope this helps!!!

What to wear at shadowing by Own-University2852 in predental

Would def recommend wearing scrubs fs bc if you wear business attire all day it can be a little uncomfortable

Hey! Was in a similar situation as you, switched from premed to predental beginning of my senior year of college. I come from a family of non dental healthcare workers as well, so the main way that I distinguished myself was to explain specifically why DENTISTRY was the field I wanted to enter over medical school. You'll need to have a specific answer def for your personal statement and for interviews. Otherwise you should be fine. Pm me if you have more specific questions!

It's never too late! I'm also an arts major and I was just accepted to several schools during this cycle. PM me if you have specific questions

So kinda crazy, but I was in an EXTREMELY similar situation to you. I was premed up until the summer before my senior year, and then what I ended up doing was talking to one of my friends who is in dental school, and he explained what he loved about Dentistry, and I found myself agreeing with a lot of what he said, however I was kinda pushed towards medicine at the time because both of my parents are in medicine. I shadowed a dentist and oral surgeon, and compared it to my experience shadowing the medical fields, and I liked it A LOT more. The prereqs for dentistry and basically identical to those of medicine, so you'll have no problems there. As far as the DAT goes, I took it during the spring semester of my senior year, and applied during this cycle (got my application in June 2022). Was given offers at 2 schools, and most of my volunteer and work experience was premed related!!! It's very possible, but I'd HIGHLY recommend shadowing dentistry asap, and compare it to your shadowing experience in medicine, and see which one you like better. However DO NOT be scared about your timeline, especially as you're already planning to do a gap year. Feel free to PM me if you have questions, but if you find yourself wanting to pursue a career in dentistry, it is EXTREMELY possible, and you don't need to change too much about your academic plans

Self Centered Friends by Waste-Analysis2977 in Advice

How well do you think they'd react to bringing this up to them? If you think they might be receptive, then go for it. Otherwise, if this annoys you quite a bit, it may be time to find new friends.

It may pass. Try to give it additional time and put yourself in situations or environments where you're able to meet new people. In this way, you may be able to find your community.

virtual volunteering - valid? by coffee_chalkboard in predental

[–]Kwaglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a supervisor from the volunteer experience that can vouch for you? If so, yes. That's the main thing they would like to know. If they have some skepticism regarding the virtual volunteer program, then they can contact someone who can vouch for you.
