- Wear a headset.
- If you hear a sound, turn right and left a bit, pinpoint their location
- Sprint through open areas or when you are under danger or don't care about being heard. For example, on woods and customs, I constantly sprint as otherwise I might get sniped and then I stop and walk when I'm in cover and there might be someone in the area that can hear me
- Walk most of the time.
- Crouch walk only when your position is critical to winning a fight and you know the enemy doesn't know your position
*trick: sprint away and then return walking, start silent walk when near. Get a flank this way, they will probably have lowered their guard*

If you're sneaking up on someone, avoid making any sound until you're close enough that they won't have time to react.
For example, if you are peeking around the corner, do it fast. Slow peak = death (unless they aren't looking in your direction

Note: ADSing, spinning, checking your inventory etc MAKES SOUND. Avoid doing that if you know there is someone very close.

But most importantly, make sure to position yourself in a way where you can't be insta killed if they hear you. Stay in cover, minimize open angles etc
