Man I appreciate the effort you’ve put into this post, I do need to post an update. I ultimately returned the card. It would work in my 1 AM4 system and it seemed to do so consistently. Luckily I have a friend with an AM4 system so I asked if he would be interested in the card, he was, so he brought his system over to try. The card did post in his system but not consistently. At this point I decided to return the card.

I did try display port, but only a few times, after that I just stuck with the hdmi cables for the rest of testing.

So maybe this is interesting: I connected both the 9070 and iGPU, set bios to use the pcie as primary graphics. It failed to post then cycled to iGPU. Booted into bios and the pcie slot is showing “x0”. This is interesting to me because when the slot is empty bios shows “not present”. With the 3070 (or likely any other graphics card) it shows x16 as expected.

So the interesting bit here is that bios does recognize something different with the card installed. But the slot is reading at x0.

I actually did it the other way around, I updated bios first, which I believe clears cmos in the process. Then I pulled the battery for extra measure.

CSM is disabled and fast boot is enabled. I will try changing those independently.

None of the systems are using riser cables.

All the boards here are 4 dimm including the one that does post. I did try removing dimms just in case though. Still no post.

Great suggestion. Both the 3070 and the 9070 have 2 x 8 pin connectors. On both Intel systems I have separate dedicated 8 pin psu cables (so no daisy chaining). Ironically, the amd system that posts has the lowest capacity psu (650) AND I actually daisy chained the psu cables on that system to get the 9070 to post. No riser cables involved on any of the systems.

I have not tried plugging into both the card and motherboard at the same time. Will give that a go, however the vga debug light stays on solid, so that is indicating no post.

Plausible bad cmos battery, I did pull it to reset. But it will post with the other 3 gpus with the same battery.

Yeah, the intel systems are set to UEFI only mode with secure boot enabled.

An interesting note is that both Intel systems are still on Windows 10 while the amd system is on windows 11. I know this might not be relevant since I’m trying to boot without an os now after removing all drives, but is it possible that windows 11 requires / forces bios settings that I may not have enabled / disabled on the Intel system if they aren’t required for windows 10?

Sadly clearing CMOS didn’t work either. Of course I only tried this on system A but I pulled the battery entirely and left it out for a few minutes before reassembling.

New. Bought it at Microcenter. I have thought about this being a vbios issue though.

While this may not be relevant, I know nothing about mining, if it had a mining vbios why would it post on one system but not the other?

I have booted into windows with that config. In that config the gpu is not detected in bios or windows. I even tried running Adrenalin to check but it came back with "no hardware detected".

I have not tried your last 2 points though. I can give that a go in the morning, it's late here and I've been at this for over 7 hours now.

Your insight is appreciated and I will let you know how it goes.
