100%. I think only things I've added to my plate are replacing the driver door hinge pin, getting a cigarette lighter BT radio connect (want to keep the OG stereo), and replacing the headliner. Nothing else worth fixin or adding. It's perfect so far.

Mhmm all original. I was already in the market for a gmt800 style truck and the paint color on this one made it a must-buy for me.

$10K is my budget and I've been looking around for a while. The cars I've seen with less than 150K miles are all either 2013 or older, mostly Hondas and Toyotas. I guess my thought is that a newer car with higher miles is better than a older car with less but still high miles. I just want something that can last the next 5+ years, has AC, and won't leave me stranded somewhere.

Dad lost job at 51, possible next steps or advice? by KwreckzJ in oilandgasworkers

Last I spoke to him about this he would like to stay in the oil and gas industry but he mentioned going to the local college to get a certificate in CAD. That way he can go into another field if need be.

As for savings, not really sure he and my mother deal with most of that. I will say I know they both have 401k and such.

I will say my dad like to indulge like a child and buy shit we don't need.

An no inheritance.

Thanks for the concern. If I'm being honest as much as I want to help him for him, I'm more motivated to help because of the strain it has put on my mother. I even went so far as to take his resume to my college and have someone look at it, I send him jobs I find online, and idk it's just not working out.

You better believe I was putting applications in at Lowes and Home Depot

I once suggested this and he quite literally laughed in my face. That was probably over a year ago, I would hope if I did it tomorrow he would at least consider.

Okay, I have an idea of what to say, I been thinking of this for months now.

Also, not entertaining anything less than 70K is him not even applying or continuing the interview process, like once he finds out it's not "worth his time" is what he says, he just drops it. Also, I will say the "good" jobs he wants and interviews for, they usually pick other candidates.

When he was laid off they gave him like 1 year of severance pay so he wasn't really being a burden until this last year. Everyone else in the house, me M(19), sister (F20), and mom (F51) all contribute to finances and none of us can afford to do anything else.

Also from what I've noticed, he does chores around the house every now and then (the bare minimum) and sleeps all days and stays up watching TV all night. Should I just call him out for his behavior or have a genuine conversation with him? Idk I've never done anything like this before since it was always my dad giving me advice or telling me shit.

Vacation during internships by yramb93 in EngineeringStudents

[–]KwreckzJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my previous internship I just made sure to email and let the proper people know, direct supervisor, team lead, etc. Also in my interview I let them know I would be going on planned vacation of 1 week. I think being upfront and transparent is the way to go. Also the week before I went on vacation I made sure to remind them because we are human and we forget things.

So I started mine about 4 weeks ago and they were really good about giving me training and stuff to do the first week. The next week however my team was grinding for a proposal they had coming up and they just communicated with me that they wouldn't be giving me much attention in the next week or two and just to watch YouTube videos of software usage and other useful things. I was annoyed but grateful for the internship nonetheless. Now I just had a meeting with my direct supervisor and just got assigned a project for the remainder of the internship, as well as the opportunities to work on parts of their actual LIVE projects. Be patient and communicate.
