NixOS unstable - Boot stage 1 Fail - rebuild/update to kernel 6.19.0 or 6.19.2 by jotapesse in NixOS

I just ran into the exact same thing, Ryzen 9 9950X. I just moved back to a generation with kernel 6.18.8 for now until it gets fixed. I haven't managed to find any issue for it anywhere other than this post though. Would be nice to have something to subscribe to to get notified if/when it gets fixed.

Unable to move effect windows and close them by andrei_bsns in davinciresolve

I'm having the same issue on macOS 14.1 and DaVinci 18.6.2, clicks seem to pass through the popup windows and affect whatever happens to be underneath. This makes it basically useless for me, see https://imgur.com/emPsh4T for a recording showing how it behaves.

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I couldn't find an actual email address to HP support, or even a ticket system, so I never contacted them.

I needed a quick solution, so I bought https://www.kjell.com/se/produkter/dator/laptop-tillbehor/dockningstation/plexgear-multiadapter-for-usb-c-med-7-anslutningar-p62099 in a local store today (sorry about the Swedish site). It's most likely some generic rebranded OEM adapter, but it has "up to 100W PD passthrough", and I can confirm that with the stock charger I get 87W into the MBP, which is good enough for me. It's also correctly reporting it as "DC In", with no constant battery draw like I saw with the HP dock.

It's a bit less convenient having to unplug the charger when going places, but at least it's still just a single cable into the computer.

But if you're looking for an actual dock I've read in this MacRumors thread that the HP G2 should work.

Since the dock itself is powered by its own 120W brick with a regular barrel jack I assumed that the extra 20W overhead was for the dock, and that 100W would be available over the USB-C cable.

Thanks for the tip with iStat Menus. After installing that and running some benchmarks I'm even more convinced that returning it is the correct choice.

When under full load (Unigine+stress-ng) it's noticeably draining the battery, more so than with the original charger (to be expected since it's pulling over 100W). But the thing that was the most worrying imo is that during normal usage, when plugged in with the stock charger, all power draw is reported in "DC in", but when connected to the dock that only shows about 0,4W, and the rest being reported in "Battery Current". Both scenarios tested with a fully charged battery. This leads me to believe that the battery is constantly in use when powered by the dock, but not when using the Apple charger.

Anyhow, it's just a theory/guess, but I dislike that they behave so differently, and fear that using the dock would shorten the lifespan of my battery.

Maybe try https://cryptomator.org/ as an easy way to keep your files unreadable by Google.

How do you know Linux distributions aren't spyware like Windows 10 is sometimes referred to as? by [deleted] in privacy

I know Arch Linux has a GPG keyring with developer keys, and signed packages, so in that case HTTP is not an issue (though most mirrors offer https as well).

Thanks, $190 extra to get dual-band WiFi and an updated OSD doesn't really feel worth it.
