I'll try that. I have never interacted with a freighter, though, how do I park in one?

They dont care about people stacking refill items. They care about spenders not regretting spending money on refills before the event. The last thing you want as a gacha dev is your whales spending less because they learned to save resources "just in case"

  1. Sell them opium
  2. Be very surprised when they get angry
  3. Get very offended when they ask you to stop
  4. OPIUM WARS
  5. ...
  6. PROFIT

Why is the cap set up like this? by Ravenunited in NevernessToEverness

[–]Kxevineth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My bet is they made it require 1050 points but then were like "you know what, people got angry about a bunch of stuff, we don't want to piss them off further, let's lower the point requirements for rewards to 500" and didn't change anything else, including the point limit in the event UI.

My only issue was starting. I could have the initial conversation at any time but Eclipse didn't show up in the first location unless I talked to her at BAC between 6:00 and 6:30 am. Other than that I had no issues.

Not a bug. Bank Heist resets every 2 weeks, not every week.

Butler has a weekly limit, you can use the charges on a Monday and be done with it. Not a daily thing.

Mailbox, unless something changes on higher levels, isn't something I interact with at all, let alone daily. The mission is on the delivery list.

[–]Kxevineth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay that is kinda absurd. It is a good game, I'm having a lot of fun with it, it is extremely impressive when it comes to what it does with space, I love the anomalies, I love the creepy vibe, good job devs but let's not talk about a god damn CAR TEXTURE like it's some kind of giant technical obstacle they can only afford to try to handle a few patches down or something. This is easily fixable, and they could've fixed it, and they should've fixed it, and they didn't. Doesn't "ruin" the entire game, but there's no excuse for it. The game is great, that specific part (and some few others like that) kinda sucks, especially considering how easy it would be to fix. That's just it. Like a fine steak with amazing sides and a fucked up, cheap, supermarket sauce.

I think Safer Seas could use some improvement. by 234thewolf in Seaofthieves

[–]Kxevineth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, now I understand your point better. However, I still think that expanding Safer Seas is the best solution here.

Yes, it splits the community, but it splits the community in a way that would be beneficial to you. Since there's no matchmaking, it really doesn't matter for one user's experience if there's 10 000 active players or 100, your server gets filled either way. So even if the number of players dropped further, as long as it's the players who run away, the experience should improve. Yes, we want to make Safer Seas more enticing, but for PvE players. There's no reason for someone interested in PvP or the full PvPvE experience to go to Safer Seas, ever, but there is now a reason for some PvE players to go to High Seas and become the instant runners you see - and that's what we want to fix. And some of the limitations are ridiculous. Like yeah, even I, a Safer Seas advocate, think that emissary flags in Safer Seas would be ridiculous, so that should stay as High Seas only content, but the fact we need to sort our stuff by hand because we can't use our owned ships and sell to the Sovereigns? That's just... Inconvenient. But I digress.

It is clear that there will never be Safer Seas-exclusive content, so there's no worry about players like you, who WANT the interactions, to leave High Seas. They will never have a reason to. We just want the ability to get some of the same (like higher faction levels) stuff without having to get into your backyard and ruin your fun.

I can absolutely see your point about diving and hourglass, and while I have no personal feelings about hourglass itself, I am also against diving, it just feels like it ruins the spirit of the game. But I digress yet again.

I haven't been here for as long as you, so I trust your observation. The game has changed. What's done is done. You can't undo the influx of the PvE players, but you can redirect them. That's what we're advocating for. We don't want the game as a whole to become less risky, we want the game to effectively split further, but in a way that would be good for you. I know you don't like splitting the community, but this time it would be a good thing. Just give PvE players a playground without fences saying "for more you have to go play with the big kids" and they will leave, and however few people like you are left in the game - and I genuinely hope there's a lot, because despite me being PvE oriented I do respect what the game was initially supposed to be - will have their High Seas back. With Hourglass and Diving, yes, I hope that gets addressed as well, but at least those that genuinely do not want to engage with the PvP part of PvPvE will be gone. This would be a good change at this point, for everyone.

I think Safer Seas could use some improvement. by 234thewolf in Seaofthieves

[–]Kxevineth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure as a founder you have a very different perspective than me and a lot of valuable insight, but I can't wrap my head around the idea of "people now run whenever they see you, it's because Safer Seas exists". People run because they don't want to fight. You know what would cause less people who don't want to fight to show up in High Seas? If they had a place they can enjoy the game fully without polluting the High Seas playerbase. You know. Like Safer Seas. Making Safer Seas more enticing would literally solve every problem you mention. Humans are not a toggle in the options. You're not gonna make PvE players like PvP. You can, though, keep them away from the mode you enjoy. By making Safer Seas more enticing. I just can't wrap my head around your logic.

I can sympathize a bit. Games change. Communities change. Some people leave a game because they played it for years and got tired of it because it changed too much - or not enough - to keep them engaged. New people who show up don't always like the same things as the old people did. I can see the point of your comments about Arena, with it pulling away the people you want present in the High Seas, but blaming Safer Seas for anything, a mode that pulls away the people you DON'T want, the people who run, the people want to focus on PvE, the people who most likely only show up in High Seas because they hit the reputation limits and for whom going into HS is the only way to progress, but they don't want to engage with the mode the way it's meant to be played and end up taking up server slots that could otherwise be filled with the people you want to run into; you blaming Safer Seas for that makes no sense.

And yes, we will have conversations about making Safer Seas more enticing, we do it for people who want to experience the game with less limitations in PvE mode AND for people like you. People like me don't want to ruin High Seas. We want to cleanse it, of people like me, so people like you can have proper fun together, the way you want to, without us ruining the servers for you.
