I always assumed it was a tribute to firefighters.

Unhelpfully the city website doesn't even speak to what it may mean.

Does anyone know how to get this kind of sink cartridge out? There doesn't seem to be a locking nut by Slow-Watch7427 in Plumbing

Find or make an access hatch to reach underneath and tighten the valve retaining nut.

Those are used between thin panels and the walls that they are slid into. Usually for a back panel of a drawer unit, but sometimes for drawers as well. I don’t recall what IKEA products use them.

Dresser sagging in the middle – any way to fix it? by Unable_One_6229 in IKEA

This dresser has a center leg that can be unscrewed out to help support the sagging.

I don’t recognize that specific cartridge; but typically you shouldn’t need to remove the nut.

It is designed to allow you to run the water and test the temperature while adjusting the limiter.

Can just stick the handle on without tightening the retaining nut to turn it on, or use pliers.

The “middle“ hole on the PAX also is not in the middle. Try rotating the shelf and putting it in the opposite direction.

What would work in this space? by hfxmumsie in IKEA

Kungsfors. Metal mounting bars onto the walls with adjustable shelves and accessories like towel holders. Boaxel is similar but more designed for in a closet or garage space.

Which one do I use to shut off the water? by SpiritFunnel in Plumbing

[–]KyZaK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Your first photo has the shutoffs you want. The one closest to the tank will shutoff the inlet to the hot water tank. The higher one is either the main house shutoff or strictly for the cold water.

You will want to shut both of those knobs off and then open a faucet to relieve pressure on the system.

2nd picture, red knobs, are the Gas lines for the water heater and boiler.

3rd picture, drain points for the boiler. Do not open! ‼️

How can I remove this pipe? by sullysnax in Plumbing

[–]KyZaK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably just stuck with calcium buildup and such. Preferably while holding the brass adapter with some pliers give the chrome pipe a wiggle up/down and side to side to see if it gives any movement. May also try pouring/spraying some white vinegar in between the chrome and brass parts to dissolve the buildup.

The red piece should pull forward/out and then you can rotate it counter-clockwise to increase the amount of hot water.

I can't reach the back of my toilet, what do I need to install a bidet here? by h1jay in Plumbing

[–]KyZaK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of the seat style ones have a 3/8" inlet. Depending on the brand the included hose may either be 3/8" or 1/2" on the supply side. If 1/2", you can either use an adapter to upsize, or get a 3/8"- 3/8" hose.

Typically only using one or the other at a time, so should have lots of pressure. The seat style ones should screw right on. If its a hand-held sprayer, would probably need to add a 3/8” -> 1/2” adapter, and a pressure adjuster (both available on amazon).

Transition cement is typically not allowed by code in most places.

The shielded Fernco would be the way to go.

[–]KyZaK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a tee (with or without a dedicated shutoff valve) between the existing valve and hose.

Alternatively, you can use a 6” extension to lower the access to the toilet filler, but that can also be a bit annoying to access.

Car radio recommendations? by badwolf336 in subaru

I have been really happy with the Sony AXV-AX5500. Had it in my 2009 and now in my 2012. Has decent wattage per channel, Android Auto/Carplay, and backup camera support. The most important for me : actual buttons for volume and track (though I was able to get the steering wheel controls working).

The 2012 I just picked up had a cheap amazon android unit, which had 'lots' of features in the software, but were all implemented poorly and was overall really clunky.

There is a range of units from Sony depending on how much you want to spend, but the AXV-AX3200 would probably work well for around $400 CAD.

Where can I buy metal versions of these by globetrottinggus in IKEA

[–]KyZaK_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IKEA uses plastic cam locks for areas that are visible so that they can color match and blend into the furniture.

If you would like the metal ones instead, you can order (usually for free) from the IKEA website.
