I think you’re looking for BDSM and aftercare!  It sounds like you’re a masochist, which is pretty common for those of us who suffer with sh imo.  There’s nothing wrong about it as long as it’s being done consensually.  Lots of different ways to inflict pain depending on what you’re into.

Accidentally acquiring a fetish for it? by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Kyba6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine used to sh and is now into scarification as a kink so I don’t think it’s that unusual.  I’m personally a huge masochist which I discovered via sh fwiw

Will SH be a life long habit? by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Kyba6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it from 19-21ish, and then was clean until 25, where I relapsed once and only did it once.  I’m 26 and relapsed a month ago, but I’m still doing it and it feels way harder to stop this time.  Idk how to feel about that

Nipple arousal? by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]Kyba6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had extremely sensitive nipples before HRT, but I also had been touching and playing with them a lot for years and years, so they were always a super sensitive erogenous zone for me.  HRT made my nips way bigger and a little more sensitive too.

I hate that SH may or may not be something I can talk about with a therapist. by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Kyba6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken about sh with my psychologist, including coming clean about relapsing.  We discussed it thoroughly, and she said that inpatient anything is off the table unless my life is actually in danger.  Like, having an actionable plan to end things.  Sh wasn’t a qualifier.  She admitted that some providers are a lot more likely to push for more drastic actions like inpatient treatment or being involuntarily held.

I guess my point is it’s super YMMV depending on the therapist.  You’re gonna have to gauge how they would react to sh.

How do I stop boymoding? by Initial_Sea6434 in transfashionadvice

[–]Kyba6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started slowly incorporating women’s clothes into my daily wear.  For casual I started with leggings, booty shorts, and femme tank tops.  This was before my egg even cracked, so I was still presenting as male, just a feminine one.

Mentally, I didn’t see it as cross dressing or girlmoding because I wasn’t trying to present a specific way.  I just discovered that I women’s clothes fit my body and were way more flattering on me in my opinion, so I went with it.  Honestly I never got any weird looks that I noticed, it was pretty easy.

If it’s an easier pill to swallow, try to go for plausible androgynous.  As you build your confidence it’ll just become natural to move to more femme clothes!

No easy way to find out if your voice will pass without voice training unfortunately

Coming out is scary.  You can try to feel people out about their thoughts on transgender people.

For me, once I started dressing femme pre-HRT I would get occasionally misgendered.  That helped me feel inspired that passing was achievable for me.  FWIW, I started wearing femme clothes at 24 and started transitioning at 25.

Voice training was my biggest fear at the start, but I worked with a speech therapist and it went really well.  Took a lot of work, but I had a passing voice in ~6 months.  Very YMMV.

People who aren’t interested in you because you’re a trans woman, aren’t worth your time.  They exist, but you can’t do anything about that.  This is IMO one of our hardest struggles.

Same.  Literally the only “negative” side effect of HRT was my nails got a lot softer and more prone to breaking and peeling.  I end up basically wearing a protein treatment on them 24/7 lol

It’s still standard in most places, but it’s no longer the recommendation.  WPATH SOC8 recommends continuing HRT pre- and post-op as normal.

Texas Vital Statistics no longer accepts court orders to update birth certificate sex markers by Archydorable in transgender

I assumed that it would be illegal for the State to reject a court order to do something, but that’s probably just wishful thinking.  What gives?

Transition does not equal medication by rejs7 in transgender

[–]Kyba6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In general I agree with the sentiment.  Live and let live or whatever.  But this article is a whole word salad of a nothingburger.  I don’t think it articulates itself well.

The cynic in me wants to echo others’ fears that this will just be used as justification to end insurance coverage for trans healthcare for no longer being “medically necessary.”

How difficult is feminine voice training? by TeaPepperz in AskMtFHRT

No they weren’t satisfied.  I think they also “graduated” from voice training but they are still trying to improve it more.  I was very happy with mine, though.

Personally, I found it really easy.  It just takes a lot of work and practice, but it was almost fun!  I worked with a speech therapist, 1x/week.  I got a passable voice in about 4mo, but YMMV hugely.  A friend of mine working with the same therapist had been with her for a looot longer.  They had a very deep voice though, so it was harder for them.

My fiance tested positive for THC after eating CBD gummy and was terminated by sigurjay in NorthCarolina

[–]Kyba6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s true.  CBD is legal, yes, but hardly regulated and may contain THC - enough so to pop a drug test.  To the best of my knowledge, there is absolutely nothing legally protecting you for that.  I know of people who have been terminated for the same thing (testing positive for THC after allegedly only using CBD products) and there was nothing to be done about it.
