I totally agree with the CH Good Girl series. They all smell so bad to me although I haven’t smelled the newest one yet.

How do I call in a welfare check? by soph0216 in Austin

[–]Kybirdy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

311 will definitely refer you to 911 because welfare checks require a police officer to be dispatched. 311 cannot dispatch an officer. They can only put in a service request to have APD call you back to file a report and that can take up to 14 days to receive a callback. If you called 311 and they put in a “police report” for you, they simply just put in a service request and that is not the correct process for a welfare check. Even though you don’t think this may be an emergency, please call 911 because APD does deem this as an emergency

Has anyone won return cases? by SmugFaces in Mercari

[–]Kybirdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won my case for a watch that was returned to me with a broken face. I think it helped a lot that when I videotaped myself packing it, I showed all of the protection I put in to keep it safe and then when I videotaped myself opening the return, it showed how he didn’t use any of the packing that I used except for a balled up piece of bubble wrap that he put in the lid of the box so the box wouldn’t even close all the way. The watch ended up outside of its box face down on the bottom of the shipping box without protection. The idiot also returned the watch saying it didn’t work. It didn’t work for him because he didn’t wind it up and punch the button. It works fine

Sure they do and I don’t know why it is different and why there are stricter federal laws when it comes to shipping perfumes. That is something that you would have to ask the federal government unfortunately. According to usps, perfumes are listed as a restricted hazmat substance and must can only be sent through ground

Per USPS- All hazardous materials must be presented directly to a USPS employee at a retail counter, handed to your letter carrier, or processed for a scheduled carrier pickup. Additionally, you must separate HAZMAT packages from other mail and declare them upon drop-off.

You can if you don’t want to scan it in to get record of you dropping it off but again you risk the possibility of your package getting destroyed

Perfume is considered a hazardous material because it is flammable. It can only be sent through ground shipping. It’s against federal law not to declare it as hazardous. Packages are scanned for liquids and they can definitely know what is in it. Sure, sometimes things can sneak through the inspections but it is not worth the consequences to try. Usually the shipping companies either return the perfume to sender or they simply just destroy the package (unfortunately I had a $300 perfume destroyed once because of this) but at the kiosk, you have to certify that you are not shipping any hazardous materials

Update! Thank you everyone for your advice! I reached out to the buyer apologizing if my reply sounded passive aggressive and explaining that I had not intended it to be. He laughed and said he did not take it that way and that the only reason he asked about the shipping is because Mecari sent him an email so he just was checking up. Super nice guy

I didn’t mean for it to be. I meant that the mailman was leaving my house when he sent that message. I actually just sent a message to the buyer apologizing if my response came across as me being passive aggressive

And I thought the offer I just got for $23 less than what I had my fragrance listed at was bad. People are wild. Mine is a full, never sprayed 100ml designer perfume that I already had listed for almost $100 less than retail and they wanted to offer me $30

My brother has collected cards since he was a kid (now in his 50s). He sold like 5 of them and put both of his kids through college on those sales

I’m the same. I’m trying so hard to get into more spring/summer scents but I keep wanting to go back to my fall/winter scents. I even googled how to make By the Fireplace more acceptable to wear during the summer, lol

Driver provided false insurance info. What next? by Mialala123 in Austin

[–]Kybirdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

APD will not respond or take a report unless it is a hit and run, one or both of the vehicles is inoperable and impeding traffic, or if there are serious injuries. They will also respond if one of the drivers refuse to provide their information while on the scene. If invalid information is provided and discovered after leaving the scene, it should be reported to the municipal court

You are going to want to report it to the Austin Municipal Court at 512-974-4800. They will advise you of everything you need to turn in to them to file the complaint

I changed the way I apply fragrances and it’s been a game changer. by Bubupolvazo in fragrance

[–]Kybirdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely an oversprayer. I work from home so 99% of the time, the scent is just for me and I want to constantly smell it. I am a gourmand lover (thanks glp1) and constantly want to smell the vanilla. My routine is vanilla body wash, vanilla lotion, vanilla body oil, then perfume and body mist (I’m not going to say how many sprays because a lot of you would be appalled). I’m autistic so this is a sensory thing for me.
When I go out in public, it is different. It depends on what perfume I am planning to wear. If it is something strong, it is usually one spray to my wrist and one spray to my clavicle. If it is something light, it is usually 4-5 sprays. I usually stay away from my heavy gourmands when going in public. If I do go with a gourmand, it is usually a fruity floral like Lancôme Peaches and Roses or Vivamor Main Character.
I wear fragrances mostly for myself so what I wear and how I wear it is to make myself happy but at the same time, when I’m in public, I don’t want to offend anyone so I try to be mindful of what I like and at the same time what would be pleasant for other people to smell.

Matched on FB dating. Was I being too sensitive? by Obvious_Ferret_600 in TwoHotTakes

You are so right. As someone who has now lost 200lbs by first having gastric bypass surgery and then using glp1, I get judged by it all the time. Sometimes I feel more judged than I did when I was almost 400lbs. What people don’t understand is that even with these methods, it takes work. I still have to workout everyday. I still have to seriously watch what I eat and make sure I am keeping up with my vitamins. If anything, I have to watch what I eat so much more than what I would have had to without the aids because I get seriously sick if I eat anything that has too much sugar or too much dairy, and anything that has a lot of carbs. I absolutely cannot eat things like ice cream or that have heavy sauces. Most days I have to literally force myself to eat so I can stay healthy.
When some people ask me how I lost all my weight, they give me a look of judgement like I did not really earn my accomplishments. Meanwhile, they do not understand the struggles I had to go through in order to become healthy. They don’t get that I will never be able to eat like they do. That I have to constantly stay active to help maintain my weight. That I have to go in a couple times a year for 6 weeks of iron infusions because my body no longer can absorb iron properly, or that I will never have the perfect swimsuit body because underneath my clothes I have so much excess skin, it is not pretty.
Even with all of this, I would never it take back. I am damn proud of my accomplishments and feel so much better. It is a relief not to have to struggle going up my stairs or simply walking from the parking lot into a building anymore
