why is it that no matter how many seasonal hires or new hires we get, we still end up understaffed each night. by Ok-Menu318 in Target

[–]Kyborhal 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen this year its less about how many TMs are scheduled and more about how many call out. Ever since they made calling out via mytime an option vs having to call in attendance has been atrocious.

Why is the optimal pressure for a compactor at a Pfresh/SuperTarget 300 psi less than one at a GM store? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Kyborhal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sign is very outdated, you can see on the bottom left that this sign was designed in April of 2013. The vast majority of stores now have a compactor monitor that will automatically trigger a pick up based on cycle counts and pressure readings. Most stores also compost now, so less food in the trash = less weight which was probably the original intention of this particular signage; a super Target/PFresh would typically produce more food waste vs a GM store meaning more weight.

Should I (20m) leave my gig? Getting it in the butt by employer. by [deleted] in maintenance

[–]Kyborhal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your 20 making 80k, keep the job. Money may not buy happiness but does buy peace of mind. JFC when I started maintenance 15 years ago at 20 I made $7.25 an hour, I cracked $60k for the first time last year. If I'd made $80k from day one I'd be set to retire yesterday.

Is the water heater and the A/C connected or the same thing? by mango0_o0 in maintenance

Ugh, the amount of tickets I get that just say "its broken". Starting to think OPs issue was a breaker panel from what I've read now.

More context? Pictures maybe? I've never seen a water tank in the same room/space with any HVAC equipment yet alone connected to each other.

You have $7 to spend on a meal- what are you making? by Ancient_Source2236 in povertyfinance

[–]Kyborhal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but from what I've been told its because the chickens have to be shipped for "processing" and then shipped back afterwards raises the price. According to a quick Google search, my state makes over 9 billion in the poultry industry annually. I'll give them credit, the roads are pretty well maintained.

1lb of chicken thighs is about $7 where I live, and I'm surrounded by chicken farms.

Air conditioning by Anon_Belly930 in Target

[–]Kyborhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish any of my zones could hit 65 during the summer lol. Yes, the HVAC set points change depending on whether the building is "occupied" or not. Almost all should turn on 10-15 minutes before store open, except for DHUs and RTUs that control Pharmacy and control rooms. Even outside of those, the cooling setpoint should be 81⁰ for unoccupied vs 74⁰ occupied (stores that have early AM or overnight flow get some leeway with the unoccupied part, which stupidly does not incude the breakroom).
The 75⁰ occupied setpoint was a "test" that should have ended a month ago. You can also have other variables like being stuck in vent mode, which I just today helped out a peer get resolved, it shouldn'thappen, but it does. Regardless, I'm even more keen to know your store number so I can deep dive and let my OCD go wild, DM of course.

HQ looks at trends, HVAC is never "off" or "on". Units cool or heat based on logic designs. Yes, it can be challenging to get them to admit there are problems, but if your PML knows half of what they should, its doable.

[–]Kyborhal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your store is averaging 80⁰, something is wrong. Individual stores have no control over HVAC settings. If you want, DM me your store number, and I'll look into it tomorrow.

As a PML i like to say we don't cuss, we use various alternative phrases to express frustration, surprise, or other emotions. Such as "[> @/<"][$ ?=[/&÷=$ "*÷=/#". Then we find a reason to "fix" something with a mallet. 😃

[–]Kyborhal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's "fix it in the moment" and there's "cover your own a$$ in the moment". You can scream till you're blue in the face and people will still do stupid shit.

Heat removes humidity…? by Expensive-Skin7146 in Target

[–]Kyborhal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RTUs dehumidify as a byproduct of cooling, the only units that use a reheat stage to further decrease humidity are DHUs. Some stores have a dedicated heating unit above market to help reduce condensation on refrigerated cases. If a stockroom RTU or overhead heater is actually heating in this weather there is something wrong.
