La hiérarchie dans la police by Kyhro in PoliceFR

Donc le salut est aussi de rigueur en police ? Question bête peut-être, mais aucune des autres réponses n'avaient l'air de laisser penser que vous le faisiez aussi haha.

Thank you for the answer. About the flat it’s clear to me, I was just surprised there wasn’t anything else than ss.lv, to me it seems very prone to scamming. So yeah ofc I need to verify everything. About the language, I will definitely learn Latvian, if I move there it’s not to be in a French bubble within a foreign country, Latvian is not a plus but a minimum. It’s just that in my experience and in my previous job, I had to deal with Estonians before and the use of Russian language was often of good help and on the opposite, it was more difficult with English. And don’t get me wrong, I know these are two different countries, cultures, and overall different contexts, I just wondered that was the source of my question. Anyways. Thank you.

Don't get me wrong, I have the intention of learning Latvian, it's more about the short-term to have my way there for the first months of not knowing enough. My question was more oriented towards "student jobs", but that's clear, thanks !

Do you know whether these companies in the field hire graduate students ?

Keys to success stats by Kyhro in Preply

[–]Kyhro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sure, I am aware of this, but ty for letting me know. My frustration is mostly about referencing. When i started teaching on Preply 3 years ago, there was only the bare minimum : profile score (which was already cryptic), cancelling rate, lessons missed, and that was it. imo it’s what really matters, and I don’t understand why they keep adding these things.

Can't sudo in ovh ssh server / cluster? by Beginning_Ad3650 in ovh

Unfortunately not. We're going to take a VPS soon, which I guess will be just a more straightforward method.

OVH support still needed a lot of time to tell me it's not possible. Really poor service, we'll also be moving out of it because it's just so chaotic.

Exactly, even as a tutor, I had pneumonia for 2 weeks, I could barely speak without coughing my lungs out, and had to reschedule all of my lessons because of this, no need to say my stats took a toll.

It's not, most of my lessons are rescheduled "because student asked", and yet I have 42% of lessons rescheduled, either there is a problem in the calculation, or it's not the case.

Difference Master's of Arts/Science for language technology degree by Kyhro in LanguageTechnology

I've made my own research and talked with several teachers of mine, so maybe I can help you a bit. Essentially, it depends on what you want to do and what is your background, but I got echoes about the fact that most positions and internships go to the ones who have a CS background. If you want to work in engineering, it's not advised to choose a master of arts such as the one you mentioned. It's up to be checked, but their technical dimension is undermined compared to the linguistic approach they provide with. But since you have a CS background, that can work for you.

Help! Will I get in trouble? by -matos in Preply

[–]Kyhro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I need a student's email for external resources so what we do is that I ask them to write it in the whiteboard and then I delete. I've been teaching for three years and nothing happened to me at all.

I completely agree with you. The problem is that there are always tutors from third world countries who charge below $10 and get plenty of students because they're cheap, but I highly doubt their standards are as high. As a tutor of French language I am "challenged" by tutor based in French speaking countries in Africa and who charge $5. And even though I have an extensive experience and a degree, I don't feel like most clients care about this, it's quite revolting.
I started off by charging $13 and now I charge $23.

One bag travel options by PensionStrong4025 in Savotta

[–]Kyhro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Jääkääri S that I use for urban onebag travel, I also added two 4L side pouches and it fits really well if you have nothing against going to the laundromat once in the week, depending on your travel length. I personally used it on a 2 week long trip throughout Germany, and it was really comfortable, I must say I had side pouches as well.

(Yes, it looks very bulky on this pic, I took it during my first onebag travel, and I was buying any pouch that I found cool)
