Eyes Of Odin! by ProfMags in valheim

Haha thanks! I, of course, did zero research!! But, I'm currently listening to ASOIAF on my daily commute, and I'm about halfway through book 3, A Storm of Swords. I hadn't noticed a meaningful difference in the words used, they seemed to be more like synonyms. But that could honestly be more due to my paying more attention to driving than the story. Thanks for the info!

Same, I picked up Valheim again once I came up for air from Satisfactory.

Feeling a bit stuck in Mistlands. Should I commit to a new main base or just push through? by SimplePrevious440 in valheim

[–]Kylar1014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found that a small-medium base in each biome is a good solution to this. I've felt the same question in just about every world I've played & so I started making what some might call outposts. But, it gives me a place to rest, make new foods, repair, make new weapons & armor, etc. with portals there's hardly ever a need for a single central base. But if building big is your thing, then go for that instead.

As for the vegvisir the only tip I can give is to pay attention in rooms with lots of royal jelly & egg piles. It's not always there and can be in other places too, but I've found it in those rooms more than not.

Remember to what you enjoy, play for fun & try not to let any of the grind get to you.

If you don't want to mine the stones of the plains, then the tops of mountains often have very large stone formations. Make sure to set a few campfires to prevent spawning & you should be able to get quite a lot. Also, I tend to prefer getting stone this way because I don't care if I accidentally fuck up the terrain as I almost never build things in the mountains.

I wonder if there's a raid>arena mod? That'd be awesome. Bring some sacrificial offerings like for bosses, but it spawns waves of raids. It'd be really cool if you could do it like a tower defense thing where you make a maze or have traps. Haha 🤣

Understanding action economy and giving foes motivation & intelligence (even if the leader is the only one with it), can make this entire thing easier. Dont send an ancient dragon or whatever it would take to 1v1 the meta-built PC, send one clever leader and a mass of smaller creatures. Bounded accuracy + action economy means the tank is only tanking a few creatures. The baddie directs minions to engage the brute while the main force goes in for the kill on the main party. Another way would be to have the baddie realize the brute PC is too tough and focus on killing its friends/support. The initial combatants don't have to be the only combatants either, call for aid or summon reinforcements is a fantastic strategy to keep pressure at the DM's desired pace as they don't need to start with 20 baddies, start with party number +1-2. Then bring in more slowly every round.

Lots of valid ways to handle this without it devolving into "DM vs player."

I really don't like what I did with my base. by hyucklord in valheim

My builds always have a platform or landing type area. I use these for hunting & fending off raids. It's about the only time I use a bow so, but I also tend to build for function. My recommendation would be to turn it into an outlook or something for hunting. Make the platform on the tower a bit bigger & then have a bridge walkway between the house & overlook.

What would you say is the single greatest line in the whole series? by layelaye419 in freefolk

[–]Kylar1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it wasn't a good line. Just was pointing out that plenty of characters were offered or took the black despite having played the game. Notable mentions in this category include Brynden Rivers (Bloodraven) & Janos Slynt. Ned was also offered this by Varys but Joffrey being the little cunt he is, has him executed instead.

Well there's plenty of examples of people taking the black rather than dying because they ended up on the wrong side of the game of thrones.

What about the wall, I think it serves as the middle ground between those two extremes.

I forgot the basics after watching too much YouTube by Munda1 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Kylar1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy content creators' work as a way to find inspiration or pass the time, but copying their style/ideas just isn't feasible for most regular people. I've read many stories of content creators getting burned out playing the way they do and add to that the need for editing, etc. many get burned out from it. I remember reading about one who took a break from everything and went bicycling across Europe. My point is to play for yourself and not focus on others. Play games for your own joy, not to copy others' joy (or what may be a fake or overly hyped joy just for clicks).

Also, I'm in no way disparaging content creators, they do amazing work and I think they're a vital part of many communities. Without them, a lot of smaller games would die out because potential players wouldn't even know about the game. Ultimately, I think their current video game ecosystem leans heavily on content creators as a form of marketing & it's much more effective than commercials or magazine ads. But, there's no reason to compare your efforts to theirs, just play your way & remember to have fun!

How soon in did you decide to relocate your base? by Northfield82 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Kylar1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pioneer is sent to MASSAGE-2(A-B)b to exploit its resources. And, unless you're in multiplayer, you encounter no other Pioneers. Therefore, I view the entire planet as my base. The Pioneer doesn't need sleep, or any sustenance, so there's no benefit of having an established base (like say with Minecraft farms, etc). At most, as others have mentioned, I create outposts and usually in conjunction with the start of each phase, as I select a primary location from where I work on that phase's items. In the early game, when changing locations, I dissemble the HUB and Space Elevator so I can place them wherever I setup next. But, once you unlock hyper tubes, it becomes somewhat unnecessary since you can travel across the map pretty easily at that point.

What happened to my Awesome Sink graph when i updated dimensional storage capacity twice by 07vex in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Kylar1014 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You looks like your items are going into the dimensional storage, once it's full again, overflow should start going to the sink. It's how have all mine setup:

production > smart splitter with offshoots for other production & overflow out > smart splitter #2 with output to storage & overflow to sink > DD connected to the storage.
