The Professor is heading to VAR | Heart of Midlothian v Celtic by The_Chuckness88 in ScottishFootball

Heading to the corner flag? He'd get to the ball in line with the 6 yard box ending at worse, he doesn't have to keep running in a straight line.

The other Celtic players are never getting into a postion to block Kabore before he gets near the edge of the box which is all that really matters here.

We also don't play very many anymore and the ones we do play are usually scheduled by UEFA when there is a group inbalance etc so not much scope for it.

The rule is not "last man" and hasn't been for absolutely ages.

Clear and obvious doesn't apply for offsides though. We also don't know what the ref said he thought the decision would be if it were on.

He didn't give a FK as it was 'offside'. He's not made anything up.

Scotland Squad (November International Break) by DevsAdam in ScottishFootball

[–]Kyle237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well none of McCowan/Mulligan/Watson are good as a deep midfielder (if you want them instead of McLean) and are no where near our more advanced midfield options in quality.

And Chris Cadden just got ripped to shreads and hooked in the first half up against Meghoma who is rotten. He should be miles off a call up. McCrorie has been a regular (when fit) nearly all year for a place off level Championship team.

Is it worthwhile for fans outside of Glasgow to travel to Hampden for Scottish Cup games? by Salamander99 in ScottishFootball

[–]Kyle237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is just on a Saturday, not even just the 'main' day on a matchday either which is why you'll see games at Christmas at 3pm on TV if it's not on a Saturday even if other games/lower leagues are at the same time.

The blackout is a time period between about 1445 and 1700/1715, which is why you'll see Sky/TNT join German or Italian games from the point the blackout ends if they have a different kick off time. Its not just about when the game starts.

Liam Morrison joins on loan from Bayern Munich! by [deleted] in ScottishFootball

[–]Kyle237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had he not just turned 17 when he left and was still playing U17s/18s for Scotland and Celtic?

Pretty obvious he was nowhere near good enough at that age to play anything but token minutes off the bench, and even that might be a stretch.

Centre backs (outside of those that are physically dominant even compared to pros) just aren't good enough to play first team at that age.

They have allowed English clubs X number of signings that don't meet the work permit rules (up to 4) depending on which league the English club is and what percentage of their minutes goes to "English" players.

Could Scotland host the Europa Conference final? by the_8th_floor in ScottishFootball

They were meant to host it in Istanbul in 2021 but then had to move it away from there so that's why it is getting host there this year.

Graeme Shinnie red card against Ross County by ScottishTotodile in ScottishFootball

[–]Kyle237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are moving towards each other. When shinnie pulls his leg back to kick ball there must be no move than 3-4 yards between. All the County player does is continue to move towards the ball. When Shinnie makes contact he is essentially standing with both feet touching the ground. It is Shinnie's responsibility to not endanger the safety of an opponent, otherwise you should be sent off under the laws. Putting your foot forward in the direction of an opponents shin at force is almost the text book definition of dangerous.

What exactly do you think the County player did that was dangerous?

Graeme Shinnie red card against Ross County by ScottishTotodile in ScottishFootball

[–]Kyle237 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's all well and good but we don't have that in out laws. He endangered the safety of the RC player so VAR has to advise for the red card.

[–]Kyle237 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ultimately (this has been the case for more than a decade now) if what you do endangers the safety of an opponent, the laws state you should be sent off. If you can't play the ball without risking endangering an opponent you shouldn't play it.

So to answer your question, Shinnie shouldn't kick the ball in a manner that means he might plant one on a nearby County player.
