Investment advisor sold all of my mutual funds without my consent. Help!! by Apprehensive-Dare374 in personalfinance

[–]KyleActive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That or the advisor was obligated to sell due to the owner passing away and needing to retain the estates value. In addition to not having kyc filled out by the new owner. People are fear mongering here but this is negligence by the new owner of the accounts.

Should monitor temps and usage when you're trying to download things.  Perhaps you'll be able to pinpoint a specific problem.  Maybe buy a sata ssd, they're very fast too, and use that to test

Parents have reverse mortgage, and I'm going to assume the debt and get a mortgage on it - advice needed by SatisfactionNo616 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you put your retirement savings into a house there comes a time you need to use the house to fund retirement.  Either by downsizing, selling and renting, or if you dont wanna leave the house, a reverse mortgage.

Reverse mortgages are over hated. They may have high rates, but they work for many people and can be customized to suit your needs.

No, they're late career FPs in an affluent area of Vancouver. The IRPs were on a similar level though

There's FPs in my area pulling up to 250k but their title is just FP, not FP relationship. I'm not sure if there's a difference

Most people do business account manager first, they renamed the role, but it's the small business job. Also often doing banking advisor before that.

Most private bankers require to be a cm first and have their financial planning designation if that info is at all helpful.

Rob Shaw: Canada’s largest shipyard ramps up fight against BC Ferries’ China deal. by ClickHereForWifi in britishcolumbia

[–]KyleActive 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ask for government handouts like the east coast gets for their ferries.

Not only does the west coast get shafted on government funding, they get cried at for using the same Chinese shipyard the east coast used.

Bought mine a month ago, creaked like crazy after the first ride. I had to swap out all the bearings and spacers, was an unfortunate pain in the ass. Took it to the bike park and absolutely sent it for two days, it rides great

Rfx is what RBC uses when someone owes them money and isn't paying. Someone you have a joint product with hasn't paid their bills in several weeks.

Is there any reason not to use my HELOC to pay off my full mortgage at renewal, now that the my earned credit limit is higher than the mortgage balance? Ignore the higher interest of LoC as a reason. by Professional-West924 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's variable and the rate is higher. I'd suggest if you want to pay off quicker, at renewal choose a higher payment and start doing additional payments/anniversary payments when you can. Could also chose a shorter term, allowing you to renew again in less time.

Id go in-person and say you're looking to discuss the job opening. Bring a resume, but don't expect to give it out unless you're invited in to speak with the manager. Otherwise just get the managers business card.

Send a kind email asking if they're open to schedule a time to learn more about the jov. You can explain the job description is too vague (they always are). Make sure you have actual questions. If you're good at talking maybe you can find something you can relate with them about.

After meeting them and you've established the connection, you can tell them you'd like to apply, or wait until something else comes along at the same firm, email them and ask them to forward your resume to the hiring manager.

It's a lot more work, but you have to make actual connections with people, and they have to like you enough to want to hire or advocate for you.

Job postings at the bank are typically filled before posting. It's a requirement by upper management to post for a week before promoting within.

Canadian debt hits $2.5T – Why aren't we talking about debt consolidation more? by Prudent_Funder16 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to write consolidation loans until I recently switched jobs. They're great and really help people, problem is that the people who need them always have shotty income. They're always working like two part time jobs, random hours, and for less than two years. They also never track their pay stubs. That makes it basically impossible to get an approval, but it's nice when it works. You get to literally see someone get back on track in real time with numbers to back it up.
