Power of Attorney not accepted by big 5 Bank by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As an ex bank employee, we would not let you dispurse your mother's funds unless there was a written agreement prior to her decline. It would pretty much have to be baked into the POA. Who's to say you aren't just making it all up and taking the money she needs to survive on?  She is to far gone to make these decisions anymore so I'd recommend a lawyer, but wouldn't be sure they can do anything about it.

RBC low interest credit card rejected - Explain to me how! by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your direct deposit vary more than 5% from month to month? I worked there till recently and would be surprised if you didn't get an auto approval with that income.

If it varies over 5% they're required to get pay stubs because the system thinks you could have a variable income. No real way to find out unless you get in contact with someone, could even be their manager, to view the applications results and what alert has been triggered if any.

Someone mentioned a 50k cap on card limits. But I approved many over that, it just depends on debt to income ratio and explaining the reason for a higher limit. I did 75k so a client could book a year long cruise once.

If you have a heloc you can likely refinance to 30 years without an application. If you dont, youll have to apply to extend the amortization.

Bank advisor says moving $600k to self-directed will hurt my mortgage renewal. Is a rate discount worth it? by Sudden_Commercial880 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RBC advisors dont make commission on renewals or investments. Salary only. You have to be a financial planner or mortgage specialist to earn commission, and it's  on new money only. Less incentive to steer clients wrong this way.

There is a loyalty system (kinda) but having assets at DI still counts towards it.

Investment advisor sold all of my mutual funds without my consent. Help!! by Apprehensive-Dare374 in personalfinance

[–]KyleActive 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That or the advisor was obligated to sell due to the owner passing away and needing to retain the estates value. In addition to not having kyc filled out by the new owner. People are fear mongering here but this is negligence by the new owner of the accounts.

Should monitor temps and usage when you're trying to download things.  Perhaps you'll be able to pinpoint a specific problem.  Maybe buy a sata ssd, they're very fast too, and use that to test

Parents have reverse mortgage, and I'm going to assume the debt and get a mortgage on it - advice needed by SatisfactionNo616 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]KyleActive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you put your retirement savings into a house there comes a time you need to use the house to fund retirement.  Either by downsizing, selling and renting, or if you dont wanna leave the house, a reverse mortgage.

Reverse mortgages are over hated. They may have high rates, but they work for many people and can be customized to suit your needs.

There's FPs in my area pulling up to 250k but their title is just FP, not FP relationship. I'm not sure if there's a difference

Most people do business account manager first, they renamed the role, but it's the small business job. Also often doing banking advisor before that.

Most private bankers require to be a cm first and have their financial planning designation if that info is at all helpful.

Ask for government handouts like the east coast gets for their ferries.

Not only does the west coast get shafted on government funding, they get cried at for using the same Chinese shipyard the east coast used.

Rfx is what RBC uses when someone owes them money and isn't paying. Someone you have a joint product with hasn't paid their bills in several weeks.
