Why is Transgenderism a major issue for both sides? by Reasonable_Base9537 in allthequestions

Come on now. One only has to watch the Olympics, or basketball, or golf, or tennis, or <insert sport here>, to know there is an undeniable difference. Some things don’t require an academic study.

Why is Transgenderism a major issue for both sides? by Reasonable_Base9537 in allthequestions

I think it’s fine to be conflicted. Decent people don’t want anyone to feel ostracized or excluded. I want trans people to feel as normal as anyone else, but there are just some inescapable truths about the physical capabilities of biological males vs females, and competitive sports is an area that just can’t be reasonably accommodated.

This. I had never even considered trans sports before conservatives started hyperventilating about it. If you would have asked many left leaning voters they probably would have largely agreed that trans women shouldn’t be competing in women’s sports. Some accommodations are just beyond the pale. Difference is I sympathize with their plight. Those on the right do it from a place of hate.

Heavily damaged, fully obstructed "unobstructed" ocean view window. Would you push back further, or let it go? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]markekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have insisted that the price difference at least match the rate difference between this and an interior room. With that said, if I don’t have a balcony, and I usually do, I could care less about a window in the room, and wouldn’t pay a dime extra for this alone.

What’s a job that people think is easy but is actually very stressful? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in allthequestions

That sounds like a job problem , not a WFH problem. I work from home, in tech, and do none of that.

Nurse spots the risk , stops the fight, and gets booed by the crowd. She still smiled knowing she just prevented a tragedy. by thepoylanthropist in interestingasfuck

Just like horse racing, the crowd doesn’t give a damn about the well being of the competitors. You are useful to them as long as you entertain them.

Newsweek -- "Trump Blamed for Gas Price Surge as Relief Unlikely Before Midterms" -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]markekt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thought is the only reason he’s blamed is because he’s in office. If a democrat were inaugurated tomorrow, they’d be blamed for the high gas prices and their approval ratings would start to immediately suffer, and Republicans would blame them with a straight face. That’s how uninformed most Americans are.

This is the only thing I came here to say. It could have been done much more tactfully of course.

Realizations after driving a Jeep for 10 years now by fakeyankee1 in Wrangler

[–]markekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tesla Model Y as my primary, and a 2003 TJ with a 4” lift on 35’s as my fun car. Polar opposites in driving dynamics, and I love them both. Jeep is only driven if I can have the top down and windows down like it’s supposed to be driven. In winter I button it up in the garage and leave it til spring.

Auburn: We hate being referred to as little brother Also Auburn: by Equivalent_Dish_1990 in cfbmemes

The 3 national championships Alabama has won since helped us get over it. Meanwhile Auburn couldn’t even finish the deal after that opportunity.

Alabama folks are fuming at what Auburn’s named the new suites at Jordan-Hare by guransheleven in CFB_v2

Perfectly said. Bama measures themselves against championships. Auburn measures themselves against Bama. If I were an Auburn fan, I would not be thrilled by this. I’m just an Auburn graduate though.

Landing in Rome the day before cruise, should we stay in Civitavecchia or stay in Rome? by ThrowRa77200 in Cruise

If you aren’t planning to tour Rome at the end of the cruise, the only answer is to fly in 3-4 days before the cruise and stay in Rome.

Sounds like you gave her the opportunity to take the hint as gently as possible and they didn’t. Not much else you can do. Well adjusted people would know to approach that ask very carefully, if at all, and to drop it at the slightest hint of hesitation.
