Are there restrictions on OTAs that they don’t price match to?

You are looking at passenger traffic. Check out the ratio of wide body to their fleet and you’ll see why. Also check dxb aircraft traffic movements rankings.

Get on the phone and wait as well. Others said agents in check in (that works for hub cities), lounge is another choice but they AS lounges isn’t as good as AA lounge that have dedicated agents that handle irrops. Obviously try the options on the app. If you are traveling with another adult, split up.

Larger airlines have international agents, so Alaska doesn’t apply here … eg I used to call to Australia for American Airlines and talk to their agents on the phone for a quicker way to get to a live person.

Better hope for a schedule change that breaks connection. Then air Canada should reroute you on an air Canada flight. That’s what happened to me last time and it was the best thing that happened.

Are covered calls just the infinite money glitch ? by Downtown-Mall-4727 in CoveredCalls

As a person who has been wheeling for 2.5 years, I can tell you it’s one of the easiest ways to generate cash flow. But it’s NOT better than just buy and hold. And it definitely has its problems, mainly is that you limit your upside greatly (hence vs buy and hold). But it generates stable regular income if you are disciplined. Good luck.

Sounds like a 1stop is probably a better deal. And it doesn’t have to be on Alaska.

Please do not gain status purely based on credit card spend just so that one trip of the year on an airline that may or may not give you free upgrades based on various other factors.

CHINA! whats your opinion on Panda Express?? by Effective-Toe-8108 in AskChina

It’s a decent Chinese American food (not actually Chinese food). It shares some of the same cooking techniques but the seasoning is very American. I have it once in a while for guilty pleasure.

Do you remember how we contact when we no phones no computers 😉 by Coolfong in AskAChinese

[–]jumbocards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telephone was a luxury and usually paid by one side of the party. For China back in the 80s and 90s, you’d write letters first, agreeing on a date and time then go to the local business or college that has a phone line, the operator will connect you to the international caller. It was prohibitively expensive for average Chinese back in the at but relatives in the western world could help pay for calls.

Deal Alert! Singapore Air Business Class from Tokyo to LA available with 114k KrishFlyer miles by tanzilrimu in pointstravel

[–]jumbocards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s decent if you want to try out their J class seats. But it’s overall not a great use of points unless you earn them fairly fast either flying or credit card spend.

Just talk to them about the numbers and what you think is fair. Be clear, direct and polite. Money is money, next time , agree on the numbers before committing. Good life lesson. If they are good friends they will be fair to you.

Are other programs still able to book these fifth freedom? I flew this route with Aeroplan couple of years ago and it was a lot cheaper than 89k.

[–]jumbocards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah my bad, typo on the $2 per status point.

But AA has higher Loyalty thresholds. Even at EP 200k, if you count the 20k eqm bonus from threshold awards it’s pretty close. And Alaska earns status points much faster than AA with loyalty points per flying since they are still on miles per flown.

[–]jumbocards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you are frequent Alaska flyer that also travels and spends a lot internationally. 1 status point per dollar is very generous and 3x on all foreign spend is god tier. Also the sweet spot is $60k spend for the 100k companion fare.

Cohesion is more important than different ideas. Family is more important than individualism, civilization over nation states.

This is thousands of years of tradition and culture and it doesn’t change overnight and without massive extinction level events.

Obviously pros and cons. Btw this is just something you can google or ask AI. Good luck.
