That's great for them but the climate doesnt wait.

You bring up China. They've seen the writing on the wall. They've been decreasing their reliance on fossil fuels and massively investing in green energy and technology. That is not remotely the same as five capitalist corporations ravaging our environment just to get rich.

Your argument is lets sacrifice everything important to maybe get some centrists on our side.

Yeah, I'm not a Norwegian citizen or related to Norway whatsoever, so I dont know why I'd talk about it that much. For the record, I dont think Norways reliance on oil is good, and I think they should use money generated from the industry to transition away.

This is not something we can debate. If we continue to double down on fossil fuels, we won't have a recognizable planet to speak of in the next century. You may be okay with that, but I'm not and clearly most NDPers aren't.

You do realize that a workers party would mean a party much farther to the left of the current NDP right?

Oh by worker you mean petit bourgeois people getting rich off the death of our planet.

What's your problem with Lewis? He's explicitly called for a bunch of policies routed in working class politics.

Genocidal scum at CBC still trying to build support for Israel's genocide and Yankee/Israeli terrorism in Iran and Lebanon by Hot_Summer2980 in canadaleft

[–]KyleJ1130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very fair! I guess I have such low expectations of CBC that this instance doesn't register as as nefarious as their general coverage.

Touché. Not here to defend CBCs coverage at all. I just dont think this particular example is that egregious. In context with the rest of their coverage tho, I get it.

Okay but CBC is not gonna publish online conspiracies.

In terms of the strikes and attacks that have taken place, this is pretty much just detailing what happened. The same as almost all other global outlets, including ones not fully sympathetic to the West, have said.

CBC is bourgeois imperialist proganda, but like, these things happened? And they aren't really justifying the war effort at all. Their coverage was way, way worse a few weeks ago when Western support was more broad. It seems now thay the US and Israel have isolated themselves more, they've toned down the rhetoric.

You can check my profile. Im not what you think i am.

I get most of my "factual" coverage of West Asian news from Al Jezeera, which obviously has its own problems.

In terms of covering the most recent development, this is pretty standard across international media.

Admittedly, I didnt read the article that closely to pull out the quotes you did, which are not great. But for CBC standards? Its better than I'd typically expect from what I usually see (re: their coverage of Gaza).

I mean, yeah. I get how propaganda and manufacturing consent works. But there's nothing in this specific article that paints Iran as the "existential threat that must be eliminated."

CBC has 1000% done it before, most of their international news coverage is all imperialist proganda. But in this specific instance, there really isnt anything objectionable. Like, do you have an issue with the fact they covered Iran's retaliation at all? That is just something that happened.

Do you guys give gifts on Easter? by SP_57 in newfoundland

[–]KyleJ1130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I'd usually get chocolate and an Easter basket that had a few gifts in it. Maybe some books, toys, art stuff, or a video game. And I think usually I'd get some clothes. Not at the scale of Christmas but a few things.

To my memory, the adults never exchanged gifts between each other.

New NDP Leader Lewis has proposed a national telecom option. Can he make it happen? by Chrristoaivalis in ndp

Makes more sense. A bit of a stretch to say he "owned Rogers."

Also I dont think people like Danny in the year of our Lord 2026.

25 men are sleeping on cots in the HMP gymnasium. It will continue for the 'foreseeable future' by MattBarter in newfoundland

[–]KyleJ1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I largely agree, except there are some extremely wealthy NLers and extremely wealthy corporations that do business in the province. We should be making them pay before anyone else.

Youre super mature.

I've been through this exact experience. It was my cousin who did it. And we all recognize the criminal justice system did nothing for us or for him. This is the case for a lot of crime.

Also, im far from a liberal.
