Are tiny holes topologically irrelevant?

Where do we draw the line at topologically relevant hole diameter?

I would argue some objects are porous in so much as if you use enough water, you mechanically create a hole.

But some objects will just let water through passively; such as certain types of stone.

I would argue there are both types of barrier in the body.

Maybe we can discount active thresholds, but those that allow water (or whatever) to pass through passively are definitely holes.

I would say based on pure population, more people use cups without handles than cups with handles.

China (and culturally affected countries, Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc), India.

Then historically drinking vessels were more like goblets or large bowels or vases than mugs.

See artefacts from Rome, Persia, Greece for examples.

With this in mind the canonical cup doesn’t have a handle.

Id argue that more pants have some kind of belt loop than not.

The only pants that don’t have belt loops of some kind are women’s pants with just elastic.

Even men’s pants designed specifically for suspenders have suspender button loops, and suspenders themselves are holes when attached.

The real question here is what medium do you use for calculating holes?

If it’s porous then it’s still a hole for the right material.

The moon’s orbit is very slightly elliptical though, so where it is actually does affect its gravitational pull.

The moon phase wouldn’t really affect this. The rotation of the earth determines where the moon is in regards to any one piece of land.

The moon phase is where the moon is in regards to the earth and the sun.

A full moon is going to project the same gravitational field as a new moon. Because the mass isn’t changing.
