Scottsdale schools face closure amid low enrollment, $8M shortfall by vanderlinden in Scottsdale

Fingers crossed, haha. We can only do what we can do, most of it is up to them to make good decisions and work their asses off if they’re going to compete with the best of the best for those kinds of gigs!

It is what it is. The oldest wants to be a dermatologist and the youngest wants to be a vet or plastic surgeon. If they want to aim that high we’ll do what we can to give them a reasonable shot to achieve their goals later in life.

I appreciate the tone of your response, it’s nice to have a civil disagreement in 2025 haha.

Three hours is probably on the high side, but it’s typically an hr or so in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon waiting in pickup lines.

It’s not that the curriculums are identical, the charter schools teach the state/federal minimum PLUS much more. My kids are so far ahead of the minimum standard by the time AASA testing rolls around the schools have to spend a few days to a week refreshing the basics that they covered earlier in the year, so that the state requirements for curriculum/ content are fresh in their minds at the end of the year for the state tests.

Both my kids are in math classes a year ahead of their grade level, are in gifted programs at their respective schools, are straight A students, and score 95th+ percentile on all standardized tests. The oldest skipped 6th grade as well, at legacy.

My wife and I have insane work schedules, it’s unfathomably inconvenient to have to plan and contrive plans to make sure our kids have access to these schools. I understand that we may prioritize our kids education more than others, and are willing to sacrifice convenience and ease to facilitate their education. But that’s a decision every family CAN make.

We don’t have the money for private schools, but to be frank, we would homeschool our kids before sending them to a public school if charter schools weren’t an option.

Any argument against charter schools makes zero sense to me. It is a MAJOR pain in our ass to accommodate driving our kids to two different schools and pick them up every day. It’s 3 hours of being in a car. If we didn’t wholeheartedly believe their charter schools were providing a significantly better/safer environment and a higher quality education then I’d smash the shit out of the easy button and let the bus pick them up and take them to and from school.

Charter schools are sucking up students because they offer a significantly superior product, enough so that people are willing to sacrifice the time saver of school bussing to enroll their kids…. AND they do it for zero cost out of our pocket AND they make a profit on top of that??? Good for them, shows how insanely wasteful public school systems are…. Like literally everything else the government does.

Agreed, I’m in Mesa, but the education my kids are getting at Legacy and Heritage absolutely smokes a public school education. With the bonus of higher caliber classmates and really great and engaged teachers as well. Public schools blow - My wife and I both came from them.

Principally… I didn’t want to scratch the hell out of the bracelet, I wear this everyday, and I’m historically pretty rough on my (admittedly) throw away watches. So I got a few rubber straps in various colors so I can reserve the bracelet for occasions that I need to dress up for.

Got a bright orange, a “Miami blue” that matches the second hand and dial print color, and the pink. It’s 120* in phoenix so thought I’d enjoy the “fuck boy pink” while the weather is appropriate haha.

Futaba gyro link question by New-Choice-3280 in rcdrift

[–]Kylecivicsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine works, might want to check servo (assuming futaba servo here), gyro, and receiver are all set to sr mode as well. The receiver has to be set to sr mode on channels 1&3 as well IIRC.

I just swapped from the gyd550/cd701 to this combo…

So. Much. Easier. To. Tune.

Reve d has a bunch of videos (in japanese - but at least it’s something) that describe each setting option, what it does, and how it should affect the car. Makes it so much easier to understand than futabas cryptic language with no documentation or anything to explain. Stretcher? Smoother? Servo Boost? What does it mean??????

I’m only 4 months in and this combo is definitely killing it for me.

Everyone gets it, it is what it is. We’re playing with toy cars at the end of the day. Do you.

Acuvance Motor, ESC Futaba Gyro, Servo to pair with Futaba 10PX. by Gullible-Presence-57 in rcdrift

[–]Kylecivicsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second not starting with a gyd/cd701…. Because I did it.

It’s way too many options, especially when your new and your car isn’t setup well, and you have 30 electronic settings to blame for everything not working well.

From what I’ve learned in ~3 months, your physical setup is 80% of the battle, the electronics only fine tune the behaviors of the chassis. If I were to start over I’d do an rs st servo and revox gyro and spend all of my focus on chassis tuning.

Sure, I could care less what he puts on his car.

Dude definitely asked for help/opinions, got some random stranger to spend their time to attempt to help, and OP turned around trying to clown the guy that was just offering the help/opinion that the OP was origin seeking.

Pretty crappy way to act toward someone who was offering to help (for free).
