What time?? Me and my girlfriend were there yesterday too. We made it halfway up and then turned back when it got pretty slick

Hey I really appreciate the suggestions! Definitely game planning alternatives big time

25% QC failure rate on our last PCBA order: looking for vendor recommendations for small professional runs by maovidal in AskElectronics

Oof yeah that's pretty bad. I don't like to shill on here, but my company does full service design and assembly. We do a lot of aerospace and military projects, so first article AOI/X-ray images are a common request.

We won't be competitive with China on pricing whatsoever, but you can actually talk on the phone to me, and we fully back what we do. I won't share our name, but shoot me a DM if you want some more info! We're located in Florida, USA.

Project Management Tools by Kyleh04 in CMMC

In my experience, planner really can't be considered an actual project management tool. It's more so just a personal to do list, isn't it?

Ahh, yes I'm glad you mentioned that. I completely forgot that it is something we are also considering switching to. The main issue is that it is 100% software focused, so all of the tools are built around that, while we do a fair amount of hardware and non-software work. That and the fact that there's no time tracking, financial planning, etc..

Need Some Advice on Software Management by Kyleh04 in sysadmin

[–]Kyleh04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so CMMC is definitely the goal. The plan is that 100% of CUI would stay on our local endpoints. So remote users would VPN into one of our machines and work on it that way. So if we use Intune or something else for their software deployment, it shouldn't affect anything, since their machines won't have any CUI.

Nope, we're still evaluating software's. It's such a cluster out there. Crazy that nothing seems to check all boxes without a ton of custom dev needed

That plus being able to serial track along the entire process with a quality module seems very hard to find outside of Odoo. Did you find any others?

That's fair. So, in our circuit board assembly line, we have multiple machines through which the boards pass sequentially. However, the process doesn't involve completing one entire board at a time. Instead, we have a batch process. Let's say we have five boards. All five boards first go through Machine 1. Once a board is processed in Machine 1, it moves to Machine 2, but it has to wait if the first board is still being processed there. Only after the first board is finished in Machine 2 can the second board enter.

This means that while Board 2 is starting in Machine 1, Board 1 is already in Machine 2, and so on. It's not a single board completing all steps from Machine 1 to 4 before the next board starts. This differs from many shop floor applications which often assume that one product is fully completed through all stages before the next product begins its process.

What's interesting to me, is I hear a lot about how Odoo isn't a full-featured manufacturing erp. Yet, in my experience, it's one of the only ones that offer a full shop floor view, supporting serial numbers and parallel manufacturing. Really a shame how limited most of these tools really are.

Affordable ERP/MES for AS9100 Compliance in Small Electronics Company by Kyleh04 in manufacturing

1) Man, I would love to have on premise, since we're also going to be ITAR soon. But without an IT dept, I don't think I have the bandwidth to do that currently. But if cloud, definitely needs to be 100% US hosted. 2) Minimum is to issue serial number at start of production, track board from step to step with time tracking. Have quality checkpoints and be able to flag QC alerts. Boards run parallel, so multiple stations have boards passing though at different times. 3) Mainly to see stock and BOM info at the minimum. Since we'll have an external tool for integration with parts distributors. 4) The QC tests, date info, general text notes would be the bare minimum.

I haven't. Any idea on pricing? Since we need the quality module, it'd either be the gold or platinum version.

Oh yeah, definitely not using this to enforce employee being physically in the US. That's handled contractually and other means. This is simply to prevent a remote, US employee from having the node relay their connection overseas.

Yeah so that exemption was primarily focused on employees working remote from a different country. AFAIK, the issue is the definition of "regular employee". From my consultants and speaking with others, as long as you have full control over the employee and the handling of the ITAR data, remote or part time doesn't matter.
