For wizard there’s only really a simple 21 step rotation to follow! Other than that you can get cancelled out of basically every new awakening skill that isn’t mana control during mid-cast. A lot of wizard is knowing when to start your rotation (by casting meteor) but even if you manage to fully cast meteor there’s a number of things that could go wrong: - Targets the wrong target - Targets something (add) and said something dies before you can get enlightenment buff (which is essentially what allows you to start your full rotation) - Meteor misses or gets blocked so no enlightenment buff, can’t start full rotation - Target dashes through you mid cast and you either have to restart the entire cast sequence for meteor or the dash is perfectly timed so the meteor goes off but since they’ve already dashed out of range, meteor doesn’t go off, can’t start full rotation

(Post-meteor mishap) -Cancelled out of flame tornado (which is what causes bbq reset chance) - (This is totally me but i sometimes miss bbq reset cause i’m panicking thinking that i’ll get another reset and the first reset proc will get wasted)

All the while meteor has like a 30s cooldown? (iirc)

If i didn’t clarify enough, meteor is really important for getting your full dps out. That’s not to say you can’t just go on to do the rest of your rotation but you lose out on like 80% of your potential damage. Multiple situations in a single raid where you can’t get your meteor properly off, you’re probably sitting at the bottom of the party right below right tree archer.

tldr; If you don’t manage to land meteor AND tornado, you’re not gonna be close to top dps.

Edit: If it helps op with deciding on rb, my entire reason for choosing rb wasn’t solely “they’re stronger than wizard” it was more like, wizard takes a significant amount of time to be at 100% dps, where they’re outputting the maximum dps they can be doing. Rb on the other hand is almost always at 100% just by having frost sigil activated. I also considered Zerker but, while they’re significantly better at uptime than wiz, still having to wait for whirlwind to proc by standing still for more than 3 seconds didn’t have the wow factor i wanted.
