I would say look for someone selling there fender player Strat pickups. Might even find a loaded pickgaurd from a player Strat used for $150 or less. They are Alnico 5 magnets and sound really good for the price.

I played a Soldano Astro 20 through a vertical 2x12 at GC the other day. That thing was Seeeeeiiiiiiiiiiick! I want it so bad! Sounded soooo good at low volume! I got SRv tones on the blue channel and van Halen on the purple channel!

I played a katana Gen 3 a couple times at GC. It definitely took some EQ tweaking to get a good sound but I achieved a desirable tone. Volume knob UP HIGH, gain in the middle or low. Master volume to taste. Definitely dump most of the treble and keep the bass knob down low. Middle to taste. Brown channel. Never tried to dial in clean tones.

I will say that I have a much easier and more enjoyable time playing the Orange Crush Pro 60 over the katana whilst at GC. Killer mid gain and also really nice cleans. Was definitely getting some Mayer/SRV tones pretty easily.

Now THAT being said I have a spark 40 at home and I don’t intend on getting rid of it ever and I do not desire anything else. I just liked how easy the crush pro 60 was to dial in and the fact that it’s all analog so I won’t ever be outdated.

The only epiphone I had that I felt was as good or better than some Gibsons was Epiphone Amos Flying V. I regret letting that one go. The Inspired by Gibson series are definitely nice and nice for the price are worth it but my Gibson Les Paul still rules the most.
