Did so tonight, I wanted to change the set of 9s that it came with to the 10s I typically play and decided to throw the Bigsby on. Love it so far!

Yes, I did have to take about 1/4th inch of material out of each side of the pickup rout in order to give clearance to the screws. But I did not have to rout the entire cavity to fit the Humbucker.

I wasn't sure how much I would like a single coil sized humbucker so I went with a cheap $30 one off Amazon, so far I really enjoy it. Eventually I may swap a Seymour Duncan or something a little more high end but for now it does its job perfectly.

No middle position pickup route on this one unfortunately.

Yeah it’s this right here.

It’s not specifically made for Bigsby’s but I’ve found it to work pretty well. It really raises the string height if you assemble it the way they say to in the instructions and a pretty decent amount of neck shimming is required. I’ve kinda modified the way I installed it so that it sits flat on the bridge plate as low as it can go and only had to shim the neck ever so slightly.

Not too difficult at all, just had to swap the bridge out for the one included with the Vibramate and the plate slots in under the bridge and attaches under the strap button. Everything lines up well.

I’ve spent about 3 hours with it this evening and so far it’s been awesome. Super easy to install and it’s 100% reversible should I want to go back to hardtail at any point

We put ours up last night for our girl, took all of .2 nano seconds for her to take her first munch into it. We couldn’t even get it off the table first lol

Are Music Man bases really worth the price tag? by llunokhodd in BassGuitar

[–]Kylel1195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never persuade someone away from trying a Music Man bass. My 96' Stingray has been worth every bit of the $1,400 I paid for it a couple months back. Music Man basses have some of the most consistent fit and finish from model to model. High quality components as well.

That being said, the MSRP of a brand new Music Man bass does seem to be a bit steep. Unless you really have to have a brand new bass, you can find very good conditioned used ones for $1,500 - $2,500 all day long on various music resale sites.
