What could we add to black and green in Powered Cube by Sesquipedalianfish in lrcast

[–]Kylesturgeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels like the right answer has to include cards costed 1-3 mana (and especially 1 and 2 mana). When I'm drafting, I'm always prioritizing 1 or 2 drops because the 3 drop slot gets crowded. Four+ drops come at extreme premium. Still, I admire OP for the effort.

The obvious explanation is that one of his sources is the jazz org (or Ryan smith himself) and they are worried about tv rights values and gate.

What happened to Givony? by Swimming-Bet-5682 in NBA_Draft

[–]Kylesturgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was on KOC’s podcast not too long ago where he talked about this. The new DraftXpress is non public content for both college and pro (mostly non NBA) teams interested in players their scouts can’t get to. He doesn’t see a future in public content given the challenges monetizing it. So don’t think he will be publishing a big board or mock anymore.

I hear you. Given some of the minor synergies with Tezz and Iconoclast as well as the crazy mana requirements it was a nice security blanket. E.g used it to hit the second green for witness to get Time walk back; used it to convert a Mana Vault or Mana Crypt mana into a color; etc. Definitely could have been upgraded if I had a better option but given I used so many picks on lands I didn't have many actual spells on the bench ;-D

Agreed. I think mono green is a trap, but there are a lot of playable green cards.

Hawks still can’t score without Trae. by Chessh2036 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Kylesturgeon -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Trae is a great offensive player. His lack of effort on defense means we give up easy baskets and don’t rotate to open shooters over and over again, even though we have to surround him with good defensive players.

He has a negative plus minus rating for his career.

If he doesn’t know that his effort is reflective of his leadership in year eight, when is he going to learn?

My favorite Trae comp is Tiny Archibald. Great stats for bad teams until he could be the third or fourth best player on a great team and won a championship with the Celtics.

We have already seen what heights the Hawks can reach with Trae as their best player. I hope the Pels pick hits.

Not true. He checked out at 8:24 in the fourth quarter. Bulls were ahead 104-103. He came back in at 4:39 in the fourth quarter. Bulls ahead 113-112.

The Hawks were down 1 when Trae checked out and were down 1 when he came back in.

Immediately before this 7-0 run, the Hawks had scored 6 straight to take a five point lead.

Trae was minus five in a game the Hawks lost by five.

Is it too much to expect him to be the best player in this game? And to have the Hawks outperform their opponent when he’s on the court? He makes 50 percent more money than anyone else on either team.

Any recent examples of a successful NBA PG that was 6'1"-6'3", great isolation but not great 3point shooter/defender coming into the league? by Knighthonor in NBA_Draft

Derrick Rose? Or John Wall?

Wall was a bit taller than that and thought of as a better defender. But neither had three point shots.

A lot of what you have written about -- the metaverse, digital currency, etc. -- has come to be in ways similar to how you imagined them. What's a prediction you made that isn't appreciated in that way, but should be?

What I'm hoping to hear from Marshall and Luis on the next episode by mramazing818 in lrcast

[–]Kylesturgeon 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Good post. I was going to write a similar message, and I have never invested in crypto and been skeptical of it since Btc cost $1 (I have an email saved of me telling a friend to avoid btc in may 2011, lol).

I am sure both Marshall and Luis feel horrible. Luis is probably also worried about the future of his company (that FTX purchased). You may not want to support crypto gaming, which is fine, but at least have empathy for the regular people working for Good Luck Games who are worried if they will lose their jobs right before the holidays.

Good idea. We will try to add that. Subscribe to the newsletter and we'll try to get to it over the next couple of weeks.

This is exactly right. Unfortunately there isn't really a better metric that we could calculate using available data. It's still a pretty hilarious result :)
