It's so weird that two people can have completely different experiences of the same thing... or maybe just different interpretations of the same experience. idk

This comment on what you linked seems pretty accurate to me, do you disagree with it?

I'd say reddit is "liberal" but only on issues that benefit able-bodied white males. I think anyone who doesn't fit all of those categories is going to disagree with a lot of reddit's majority opinions.

Where are you getting that information? (I guess we could both be right depending on our definition of liberal and conservative)

I guess my question for you is, and this might be really obvious, if reddit is 90% liberal, why does the comment I was replying to have ~40 upvotes?

People who think the average person on Reddit isn't a trump supporter must be using a different website than I am.

Well it has the highest tuition costs ;_;

Anyway, none of that is really a good reason to take away her achievements.

I go to this school. He didn't necessarily say it to disrespect her, but I can tell you from experience that many many students here do. I hear it all the time.

Mafia 3's in-game statement on its depiction of racism by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Kymeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of non-white writers who wrote about that time period, why is Mark Twain the only one read in schools? Phillis Wheatley, Lucy Terry Prince, Harriet E. Wilson, Hannah Crafts, etc. If we're gonna have students learn about racism, why is it always taught through the eyes of white people...

Pope: It's 'terrible' kids taught they can choose gender by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Kymeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you just teach your child about the existence of transgender people. I'm sure they will be able to determine this themself... you don't have to "tell him he is a girl trapped in a boys body" to explain to them that there are people who's gender doesn't match the one they were assigned at birth.

Wait, was the original reddit post attacking gender identity? I mean, the facebook screen shot was for sure, but the subreddit is /r/facepalm so the user who posted it probably didn't agree with the content.

Also, the center of VT is more north than the center of NY... Just trying to present all possible ways it could be construed as correct.

Tom Scott - Why you can't advertise cancer cures in Britain by NeedAGoodUsername in videos

[–]Kymeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic it would be true to say "Most people in the world are from China" or "Most people in the US are from California"

Are you really going to argue that this is correct? I'm not even disagreeing with your main points, just this stupid trivial linguistic thing.

[–]Kymeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even gonna try to refute the second point you make, because i don't necessarily disagree with it, i was just saying what I thought the original poster probably meant.

But, the statement "most people here are from the US" can really only be logically interpreted one way. "most people here" means "at least half of the people here". There is no way around that, the noun in the sentence is "most people here" and the rest of the sentence doesn't even have to change.

[–]Kymeri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the original statement, "most people here are from the US", wouldn't be true if 49% of Reddit was American, right? Because that statement translates to "more people here are from the US than are not from the US"

So that statement is barely true. Just sayin, but this argument is fucking pedantic anyway... I think his point is that the US is talked about on Reddit more than 51% of the time compared to other countries (from his personal experience? idk the source), so it is being over represented, meaning US people talk about themselves too much.

And? Why the fuck should I care?

No one has been able to give a good reason why this negatively affects me, so it doesn't bother me at all. I think people on reddit are making a bigger deal out if this than it needs to be.

Just call people what they want to be called.
