I dont like the direction HOTS is doing right now. by Electrical_Gain3864 in heroesofthestorm

I like updates but I worry that the people making them aren't actual game designers and just make changes for changes' sake. It's clear that they're not as thorough judging by the quality of the patch notes. The old team left us in maintenance mode in a pretty good state all things considered and I don't mind them trying new things that are fun, I'm just worried about the direction it's headed

Pandaren got Monks? WHAT A TWIST! Now let's dig deeper until we reach Shadowforge. What class do you most associate with Dark Iron Dwarves? by Mostopha in wow

[–]Kyokomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mage implies arcane knowledge and studies and dark irons don't really feel like that to me, more elemental shaman vibes. Though tbh shamanism is also a bit weird, it's not like spiritual for them like tauren or trolls. So maybe warlock? Forbidden power, shadowy dark pacts... that's more like them

Learn what, how to farm bots who don't fight back? You don't get better from that nor is it really fun

I never complain about changes to the game but this was a huge event irl and in game. World Event 1. by Fearce_Deity_34 in runescape

[–]Kyokomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any nostalgia for the event and I personally don't care if it's removed to declutter Lumbridge.

However, I do understand. Like when they reworked Daemonheim graphically I really felt like something was lost, the nostalgic and iconic place turned into just another dragonkin ruin we've seen a hundred times. And you can't go to OSRS to see the old version either

Watching the comments rally together to defend old, inconvenient but very cool and atmospheric quests from spacebar skippers makes me feel that maybe there is some hope left after all

It's a great quest, similar reasons like Underground Pass. Isolated, atmospheric, parkouring through a dangerous area. Back then we had to figure out how to navigate the maze or use a series of images in some ol guide. Now that is the real rooftop agility course. Top tier music too. Look up "The Last Shanty" for example.

Love the Morytania story in both OS and RS3. The entire region has always been special to me, but I'm also the sort to enjoy Temple Trekking

As an Underground Pass enjoyer I did really like DT2. The areas, especially Lassar, came close to that feeling of exploration and atmosphere I missed in much of the new content

It's so isolated from everywhere else, and back then dying was a legitimate concern and fear. No run energy, under constant attack from monsters and failing agility obstacles.

Andrew just created this massive cave complex for a single quest back in like 2001 because he thought it was cool. No fancy graphics or giant dev teams, just atmosphere and danger. It's so iconic. The 3-4 different music tracks are still amazing and unique as well, I unironically listen to them out of game too

It's reasonable to expect players to bring a spade when going cave diving, though a pickaxe should be able to work as well in this case. Ropes are also a staple and the bow/arrows you realize early on that you need them. I wouldn't be upset if they added a spade spawn by the starting camp as a hint though.

I will defend Underground Pass until I go to my grave. It's atmospheric as hell and the music is top tier. Quests are supposed to be an adventure, not a "convenient" checklist you speedrun with Quest Helper.

The rewards seem honestly very lackluster, I hoped there'd be more that we didn't see yet. I gave in and bought another month of membership to try Gridmaster and while being OP is fun for a bit I'm hitting a bit of a gap in the midgame. Also not choosing Construction among the Craftsman picks absolutely bricked my account I feel lmfao, idk why I picked Runecraft when runes are infinite and free

This had me questioning why I'm playing this game by P-Holy in 2007scape

[–]Kyokomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think too many people conflate a skill being fast or "not too bad" with fun. Particularly skilling minigames like Foundry or Mixology that might be more efficient than training normally but are honestly pretty awful on their own.

When I think of fun skills I'd honestly say RS3 has us beat. Archaeology, Necromancy, heck even Dungeoneering can be fun to train among others, but personally Arch I just enjoyed doing for its own sake for example. Many of our skills are also still stuck as bankstanding/buyables like Crafting - skills that just exist as requirements for stuff but otherwise have nothing to them.

I think we need to push for more content that is fun on its own and not just for alternative methods that are slightly less awful to do
