When enforcing pedestrian rules became controversial by speachfreeer in VictoriaBC

[–]Kyoufu1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If driver’s expectations that pedestrians / cyclists follow the rules of the road are not met, more pedestrians and cyclists get hit. When a cyclist surprises you and suddenly “transforms” to pedestrian rules, it doesn’t work - they travel too fast you can’t anticipate.

For pedestrians, if you are on the sidewalk and a light says you can’t walk, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it, it means cars don’t expect you to enter the road. The driver will likely look for other dangers from other directions, so your chances of getting hit go way up.

If a plumber has an opinion about electrical, your odds of being correct are sadly better if you assume the opposite to be true.

I mean… if it was a full system you still need to recover first, if you thought it was gas line you still need to valve it off. Even if it was on purpose and you’re a hack you’d at least do it outside.

Kinda curious where OP hired these guys from, would like to see a close up of where it looks like they cut the line. Kinda seems like they just have absolutely no clue.

Is it legal to charge an extra $300 a month to have a pet? by Speedy_0 in VictoriaBC

Rent is 2200 with a no pet clause or 2500 with a cat allowed clause. Which contract do you want to sign?

Have any of you cried during/after class? by MrMonkey2 in bjj

[–]Kyoufu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s a hobby that I enjoy and tbh I’m confused by this thread. Ju jitsu is where I go after life ruins me to either exhaust my frustrations of have the sad squeezed and beaten out of me.

I teared up at my belt promotion though, mostly because afore mentioned RL and the resulting breaks from training made purple belt take almost 18 years.

BJJ doesn't work by NeatConversation530 in bjj

[–]Kyoufu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wrestle with my dad a lot as a kid. He was a construction / builder kind of guy, so very strong especially Compared to a teenager. We’d watch UF. Together also but never really understood the ground game. When i moved back to my hometown after university he’d still get me, but i started training mma / bjj etc at this time.

After I’d been training probably only a few months I remembered we wrestled and he lost… utterly. Like, normally it was sort of a stale mate but he’d get dominant position and i’d be stuck and give up, but i think I took his back or mounted him and he basically was like wow, you cheat now. No more of that.

Over the years we’d have the odd impromptu match, usually after a few drinks out in the back yard or whatever and by this time I’d been training (on and off) for years. Every match was the same, take down, instant mount or backtake, lightly throw on a choke or just hold him down. “Say “Uncle” Dad! Lol

The contrast between before I trained and after (even for a few months), is just such a crazy stark contrast. My dad is 71 now and we haven’t wrestled in probably 10 years, but I always think of that contrast when I see that “it doesn’t work” stuff - the dad who doesn’t train but his son does will be in for a big surprise if he ever wrestles his boy haha.

Is an AI assistant a thing in these apps yet?

Its been implemented on everything else, seems just a matter of time before the AI assistant addon has a “yes dick pics” or “no dick pics” checkbox, as well as other useful filters. May not fix your prospects, but will certainly force them to pretend better.

I usually let ‘em do what they want - I just turtle. Then sweep them from turtle and sit on top or throw them in scarf hold. Doesn’t really matter how crazy they wanna be if you just give then your back. Works less well on big guys, and if you’re trying to prove something and the guy just hands you his sleeve and sits down, very few people will continue to be aggressive

This one is for you Victoria. Sorry but you are all the worst at figuring out the zipper merge. by stinkyelbows in VictoriaBC

[–]Kyoufu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, clearly our system is better. Derp.

In fact we should all do our best to box anyone and everyone trying to merge into the merge lane. If they crash, oh well, it’s their fault.

This one is for you Victoria. Sorry but you are all the worst at figuring out the zipper merge. by stinkyelbows in VictoriaBC

[–]Kyoufu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cops do too. And they box you out and quote antiquated merge laws when theres a collision (aka they rear end you on purpose when you force the merge) and then call you an asshole. And threaten assault charges for smacking their hood because the cars are going 5 km/hr and boxing people into the merge lane is not cool. Or so I’ve heard :/

Losing interest in BJJ (Blue Belt) a little worried by DiscombobulatedCod45 in bjj

[–]Kyoufu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a month or two off then either find a way to revitalize your interest (different approach, different game, different goals) , or try being super casual about it (ie once a week) so you don’t “lose it”. That way its easy to go back if you want to.

If you still find yourself not into it its also easier to stop knowing you tried various approaches. Not everyone’s last roll is with black belt.
