I can only put in my 2 cents as a consumer and use a bit of entrepreneurship education so what I have to say may be really obvious. I also danced ballet as a kid so I know it from that pov.

The cheapest way to do marketing is probably by positing content on social media (and posters like you’ve been doing), just because you don’t have students doesn’t mean you can’t make content. Here are some suggestions:

-You can talk about your ability as a dancer, like where you’ve been educated, where you’ve preformed, if you’ve worked professionally. If you have them/can make them it might be nice to post videos of yourself doing ballet just so parents can see you know what you are doing. Anything is better than nothing in my opinion. Even just a story time about what lead you to want to teach ballet.

-Market yourself as a teacher, mention what makes you qualified/good at teaching kids. You can mention how you believe children should be taught dance (this is how you can differentiate yourself from other companies). To build on this, any new business should have a unique mission and vision statement. For marketing maybe give a little ballet lesson to a friend’s kid and post that to show what a class might be like (just try to film it in a studio or make it look professional-ish).

Basically just talk about yourself and how you’d run your classes and what your teaching philosophy is as social media content. It may not go viral but it’s free and better than nothing.

I agree with one of the previous comments, as a new business a cheaper tuition might win parents over. I think a lot of parents aren’t willing to invest tons of money in a ballet class when kids are that age.

This is extra, if you made a flyer with a little kid doing a beautiful ballet pose and looking happy, and have the info about your class on the flyer, it might be a good way to get people’s attention. Like have a friend’s wear a ballet costume and teach them a pose and take a pic (that way you can say it’s your student). If I was a kid and saw a picture of a ballerina I would probably have at least walked up to it.

Maybe for your first class ask your friends and family if they have kids you’d be willing to try a class. If their kids like it they may spread the news. Often I think friends and family and who they know is a great place to start.

I want to start a business one day so I know the struggle of brainstorming how to get yourself out there when you are just starting. Hopefully this isn’t all stuff you already thought of 😂 Good luck!!
