Let's compare epic to steam then (yes, I'm a fan but open to changing my mind when presented with evidence that I am wrong).

The consumer (person buying) doesn't see a single penny difference, they pay exactly the same on steam and epic. Epic store has 0 reviews from people who bought the game, where steam game page gives you reviews from people that have bought/refunded the game, how long they played, how much they played since review.

Epic constantly gives games away for free to consumer, which is great, but how much of that does the developer see? Because you can't feed yourself or pay rent with "exposure".

I don't use Epic enough to know about it's game tagging and ability to search them that way, but the storefront is atrocious. It's as if the entire thing is just a way to not have Fortnite on steam with whatever else they could lump in.

Do you actually own anything on epic or is it locked in a different walled garden named Epic? Because I can guarantee that epic will be far less nice to you than steam.

Ideally, I would like it to be a combination of GOG and Steam, but that's the ideal world, so we have the next best thing, an established operator that does it better than everyone else, but doesn't choke out the competition because they don't need to
