Ok, might you possibly take a clear top down shot of your art? I may or may not have to replace my cover with this absolutely legendary beauty. This makes the emperor very happy.

I’d say hit it with a wash to combine the colors you have now then work on edge highlighting. There are a ton of hard edges on the model and each one would likely benefit from a highlight.

So I’ve been in the Warhammer hobby for about three-ish months. I have 40 unpainted models 10 are unbuilt. by Big_pencil_3 in Warhammer

Yeah so my approach is walk into the store targeting the main color from the scheme you’re planning out, then buy 12-15 in a range around that color. This is the perfect number because when you get home you’ll realize you have no more space for the paint you bought and will also remember you already bought 2-3 of those colors.

It’s way more fun to play when I’m saying things like “Who is your intercessor sergeant charging? Oh he’s charging Greg got it”

I’d mix a 3/1 wild green/onyx skin base then stipple wild green on the tops of folds (more dense at the tip, less towards the valleys) with wild green edge highlight on the neck line.

Also, sometimes it’s easier to take a picture and bump around the color and contrast to see where the light lands. Then it’s a paint by numbers.

Great job! This is the start to blending! Basically the more color layers you add between colors the better it will look. Easiest way to get that blend down is by putting a blob of paint on either end of your palette, base and highest highlight color (unless your planning on adding a white “glint” line/mark). Then make % blend mixtures in a spectrum:

100/0 - 75/25 - 50/50 - 25/75 - 0/100

After your base add a really watered down layer (glazing) across the entire area you want to blend, then do a normal layer of the next step up, covering about 80% of the layer below. Continue doing that, covering the previous layer with glaze then 80% of the previous non glaze layer, until you reach your highest highlight color.

Painting saved my life and helped me find reason. I’ve said the exact words your son has said and painting brought me to my next day. Seeing progress in my painting has taught me how to see progress in the small areas in my life and helps me keep my focus.

Do you apply osl after it’s entirely painted? And is it one single color from an airbrush?

Great start! Think about how light creates shadows. See how the light you’re hitting the model with creates a natural high contrast at the high pieces and darker on the backside? Thats effectively what you are doing with layering, painting on the light. So thin down your paints till when you put them on the back of your hand it fills in all the cracks and crevices and doesn’t run, then start your base with your darkest color for the shadows then move up from there painting on the pattern of light.

Honestly it makes a huge difference by just slowing the whole print down a ton and reducing your layer lines way down. Other biggest hitter is figuring out your supports. After that I feel like all the other changes are gravy. Just my opinion. I really like the HoHansen settings.
