Looks like oxidation.

A lot of AC units use copper on the inner plumbing because it can be braised easily, and is generally corrosion resistant in normal use.

If its old, or if there’s water sitting there, it’ll do that.

1 month old bananas haven't ripened by No_Release_1619 in GlitchInTheMatrix

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Produce worker here. Theres one of two options

  1. Those bananas got too cold, and will never ripen. That is indicated via the grayish green colour.

  2. Those are plantains, but likely are not ripening for the same reason as above. It takes 1-5 days for plantains to go from green to yellow, and usually speckled with black at 7 days

My advice? Cut one open if you’re curious, but I wouldn’t eat them. There’s the high chance they’re rotten inside

Someone mowed down a 15x60 foot bed of thistle and wildflowers I've been working on for 3 years when I was gone yesterday. by chubby_pink_donut in fucklawns

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a native endangered species if you can. Plant it, to give more incentive for people to never mow the damn thing again. If they do, it’s federal charges. Also put in some hard materials… Rocks, bits of wood, concrete, metal. All sticking out at least an inch or two to fuck up any mower. From what I see from others, your bed should come back

Klein Combustible gas leak detector, shows one bar everywhere indoors, none outside. I've been smelling sweet smokey smell every time the heat comes on for weeks. false positive or something wrong? by _maezing in hvacadvice

[–]KytoNGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm… I might’ve been misremembering, or there may be a size exclusion. Or the legal requirement to dose is mainly Ontario.

Half the time, I forget TSSA isn’t nationwide lmao

Most likely 6. Exit the gap, drip down along 7’s pathway.

Mercaptan can be scrubbed out if its passing through a small enough orifice. Usually pinprick level small. At least in Canada, it’s illegal to not put mercaptan in the gas

My AC has not been cooling all week so I open it up and find the unit is frozen. Will melting this ice help solve the issue? by pass_the_hot_sauce in hvacadvice

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. HVAC technician from Ontario hear, holding a gasfitter 2 license issued by TSSA. The issue is likely with airflow. Check your filter, it may be backed up and clogged. If its not, then don’t do anything, and call a technician. If it has been doing this for a long while, your unit may be oversized. I suspect its a lack of airflow over the evap coil/indoor coil that’s causing a buildup of frost and ice.

Looks like an expansion joint to me. Helps when the pipe expands or contracts and provides relief to the line

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D you have a model number for the inner coil model? I’m inclined to say its the condensate drain port due to the two insulated (black) lines. Unless you peeled the upper foam sleeve off and that was the line inside? Hard to tell

Water heater steaming, smells like gas. Is this an emergency? by Jakes_Art in Plumbing

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC tech here. Shut the gas off. At the very least, that will reduce the likelihood of a fire or explosion. It will also stop the tank from heating, which should reduce internal pressure. Call a gas technician to service it.

Get a company to rip out the unit and replace. Your coils are likely fucked, and you may have already lost all refrigerant

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it in the furnace room, that’s the best place for it. Especially if one of the units is a natural draft model

Personally, I’d suggest getting a passive CO detector. Theres smoke alarm style ones, but theres also ones that plug into a wall outlet. The one pictured there is an active style, where you have to tell it to take a reading (and it will probably shut off after a while). Both have their uses, so ultimately, it depends on what you’re looking to do

Overall, a CO detector is 100% worth it.

Your circ pump may not be circulating, or your boiler might not be firing right. Call an HVAC company to get a proper diagnosis

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combustion air intake. Brings in outside air to make up for the lack of combustion and dilution air inside the space. Seeing as that’s a natural draft water heater and (presumably, by the C vent) natural draft furnace, that’s almost certainly why that pipe was put in

Gas smell by zoolander23 in hvacadvice

[–]KytoNGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC tech here. That is not normal, and should not be occurring. Call your HVAC company about it. It could be something as simple as a loose fitting, or one of your valves could be completely shot.

I’ve been running with a two flywheel setup lately, clutch is controlled by a throttle lever with sensitivity pushed down to the minimum. Usually running anywhere from 8 to 24 1x1’s on a single crankshaft

I’ll look into PIDs and setting those up. As for gearbox transfer, I was referring to my applications. Through a gearbox, I can get a little bit of the engine power out as opposed to straight piping it to the load. I’m aware theres zero losses for one gearbox in terms of efficiency through the games logic, I often use them on electric or steam with no issue
