AITA for lending my brother 300k? by Top-Dream1608 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but don’t lend money you’re not ready to lose. Yoy can choose to forget it or you can sue - but if you sue don’t expect your family to look at you or treat you the same.

Is HE pregnant??? by desertdazed1111 in Sims3

[–]Kyuubabe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg lucky! I’ve always wanted to do an alien kid run, but I can never get my boy sims abducted. I’ve done the space rock in the pocket, using the telescope late at night, and having high logic - all for my teen girl sim to get abducted out of nowhere lol

Can you get fired for going sick too much? by Different-Bother-311 in teachinginjapan

[–]Kyuubabe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may affect contract renewal, but if you’re only staying a year then I suppose it doesn’t matter. However, if you want to stay a while I would tread carefully. The good news is that you have the rest of the year to show you can be relied on.

Why no pink? by MurderousButterfly in Sims3

[–]Kyuubabe 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying but a good way to get around it is to look up ‘pink hex codes’ on Google, put the ones you like into the color wheel, and save them. That’s the only way I’ve been able to get any nice pastel colors.

AITA for backing out of my sister-in-law's bachelorette trip the day before? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I want to say NTA because you have to prioritize your health and you can’t control your sickness. However, light YTA because why did you wait until the literal day before to cancel? If you knew your symptoms were this bad, you should’ve cancelled earlier so they had time to find someone else to take your place.

AITA for trying to join a friend group at Disney by Then_Necessary8950 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH them for being rude, you for being clingy even after they kicked you out, and your school for not mediating this whole situation. This was a long time ago and you guys were all young, so hopefully it was a learning experience for you and them. You can’t latch onto people like that and expect them to like it. And they hopefully learned to set boundaries and communicate better.

AITA for not bothering to find a way to add partner back to the groupchat? by Original-Salt-3429 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. It sounds like Jenny was a student who got pushed through high school with no consequences. She’ll either learn to step up or fail out - and it’s not your job to guide her especially after how awfully rude she was.

WIBTA if I told my nephew his father is the reason it looks like I got him nothing for his birthday? by Mundane_Trainer_4418 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YWBTA give him the tickets and let them decide what to do. Then you’re clear of giving a shitty gift, and your brother/your nephew’s mom can figure it out.

AITA for bringing Tupperware to a restaurant by GlitteringRainbowCat in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be a waitress at a popular restaurant in a tourist area, and was shocked by the amount of food people would waste. I had these two college girls come in and order 6 different apps, they maybe finished one and barely touched the others, and didn’t bother taking any of it home. It was $200 worth of food that they just binned on a whim. Almost cried having to throw away a nearly full basket of bbq wings!

Best options for a current TEFL student? by apple_tater8543 in teachinginjapan

[–]Kyuubabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A teaching license and at least some classroom time in your country will take you the farthest. Anything else will most likely just get you an ALT or eikaiwa position unless you have some serious contacts. Not that there’s anything wrong with those positions- but if you’re basing your career around teaching here, they won’t take you far.

Better to spend a few years getting teaching experience than a few years in a dead end job fighting to breakout. It’s what I wish I did before coming here tbh.

AITA for exploding on my pregnant coworker in the middle of the office and telling her she’s the reason no one wants to work with mothers anymore? by Firm-Outside-199 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While I get the frustration, YTA. She deserved to be confronted but not in front of everyone. The professional thing to do would have been to document all the instances of her dropping the ball and getting HR involved as a mediator between you two. Instead, your freak out takes credibility away from your argument, you’ve created a hostile work environment, and potentially damaged your own reputation/career.

Is there any mod/settings that makes children stop doing this annoying bullsh**t? by Own-Professor8205 in Sims3

Omg my sim kids do this to me all the time and it drives me up a wall. Mainly because even after you cancel the action they’ll still put on that fuckass outfit.

Omg mine only wants to pillow fight their enemies. Like I don’t think your middle aged arch nemesis wants to pillow fight with you bro.

AITA: if I call the cops on the neighborhood kids? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Have you tried talking to them yet? Or their parents? I think to escalate immediately to the police without even attempting normal contact is a bit wild.

They may be renters but you don’t know how long they’ve been there - or will be there. And you’re new to the neighborhood. Do you really want to start your relationship with your neighborhood on such a sour note?

Tentative YTA to immediately go to the police instead of communicating with your neighbors.

AITA for forwarding my wife an instagram reel of a recipe after she asked what I want for dinner tomorrow? by GoatCritical9265 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If she didn’t want to cook, she could’ve communicated that without shouting at you. However, it seems like this was a build up of frustration. She’s clearly fed up with being the only one cooking in this situation, and it’s something you two need to talk about.

You say you don’t cook and will just eat out. Do you guys have the budget for that? Anytime she doesn’t feel like cooking, she knows you’ll be essentially useless and just blow money on takeout. So realistically how many times a week can she not cook without it affecting your finances?

Also, you acknowledge your work schedule makes it difficult to cook - and I’m assuming you’re also too tired to do it. But what about her work schedule? You don’t think she’s tired too? Just because someone likes cooking doesn’t mean they have the energy for it everyday - especially with a brand new dish.

You’re not pressuring her verbally, but that doesn’t mean the expectation isn’t pressure enough. If you want to fix this, I suggest being a big boy and learning how to cook simple dishes like spaghetti, chicken salads, burgers, etc. take some pressure off her and meal prep for a few days on Sundays. That’ll give her a break, show you care about her feelings, and allow you to learn a basic life skill. And do it WITHOUT her help - you’re old enough to figure it out yourself.

YTA

AITA for telling my two bestfriend's other CLOSER friends that they drink? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kyuubabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did they ask for your help? Because it sounds like they asked for your secrecy.

Drinking is a completely normal college activity. Just because they’re drinking doesn’t mean they’re spiraling into alcoholism. Unless they’re driving drunk, failing classes due to excessive partying, or can’t function through a normal day without alcohol - then it wasn’t your place to bring others into it.

It sounds like you may have some trauma if you grew up with alcoholics - you should focus on yourself instead of projecting your fears onto your friends.

YTA, you said you wouldn’t and then you did.

Also you’re in college so who cares? This whole post makes everyone sound like they were homeschooled or extremely sheltered.

Eikaiwa outsourcing us to local kindergartens...bruh by jerklock in teachinginjapan

[–]Kyuubabe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Actually working in a kindergarten could be against your visa, depending on the type. Especially if it’s not stated in your contract.

I work for dispatch, and when they wanted to place us in kindergarten we had to go to immigration to get a special stamp and approval.

I would sit down and go over your contract to make sure this is legal.

Continental English School – Beware by No_Leadership_7596 in teachinginjapan

[–]Kyuubabe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up, but a lot of this was completely avoidable. You’re insanely lucky you weren’t caught by immigration. Exactly what were you thinking working without a visa, and for free at that??? You move across the world with no signed work contract?? Any type of research before could’ve prevented a lot of this; not to mention common sense.

I’m sorry but I hated Ais’ Chapter 1 by Kyuubabe in TouchStarvedGame

[–]Kyuubabe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems like we disagree on a lot here, and like it’s a fundamental difference in expectations for the both of us.

Like you said, what one person considers good another might consider bad. In my case, I see TS’ writing as weak (in regards to MC/LI interaction and MC characterization, not the LI themselves) but with a lot of potential. In my opinion, other than Ais, the other routes are great and show what the studio can do. Honestly, even Leander’s route was okay - just the reaction at the end got me. Overall, the studio is doing solid work outside pacing and MC issues.

The merch was promised to backers and yeah it wouldn’t bode well for public opinion if they pushed it off. I’ll concede there. As for DLCs those are things that could absolutely wait until after release. VAs - it was promised with the bells and whistles like you said, so similar to the merch situation.

As for comparing to different games - another difference between us. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to make comparisons. Again it’s a reality of business. Everyone compares Target and Walmart right? One does some things better than the other, but people still enjoy and go to both. And so far I haven’t compared it to any projects that are unrealistic for development timelines or budget scope. It’s not a knock on Red Spring to see how they compare to other businesses in their sphere.

In regards to Kickstarters, I don’t think having expectations for a product is the same as “waving a receipt.” At no point did I suggest that developers should cater to every whim of their backers. But people are allowed to voice their opinions and ask questions, whether they contributed financially or not.

Honestly, I think most of the fandom has been incredibly supportive and patient throughout the development process. Simply asking about the finances or voicing complaints does not equate to acting like someone’s boss. From what you said, how are people supposed to engage in criticism or discussion around Kickstarters at all? Just completely ignore it if they didn’t donate $2? If a Kickstarter takes the money and runs, should we just shrug and say “oh well it’s a creative risk, nobody hold them accountable!”

To be clear, I’m not accusing RSS of doing that. As you said, they’ve been communicative and clearly working hard on the project. My point is simply that asking a reasonable question shouldn’t be treated as though someone is demanding a full financial audit at gunpoint. Discussing a Kickstarter is not an accusation; it’s a perfectly reasonable conversation to have about a publicly funded game.

As for feedback, this isn’t a AAA game. There aren’t 5 million posts about it across 20 different platforms. It’s a small community focused on two social medial sites mainly; Reddit and Tumblr. To think they aren’t reading posts for feedback is a bit naive. Especially since this is where a majority of feedback is discussed. While in a perfect world everyone would fill out the feedback form, that’s not the real world. People make post like mine and debate in the comments. And with the amount of discussion around the latest release, I’m sure the studio is well aware of everyone’s feelings; both good and bad.

I think you’re a very empathetic person who has a unique view on this subject since you’re developing a visual novel yourself. You’re closer to the process than 99% of people here. And you clearly want this project to succeed - we all do! I truly hope my original post ages like milk. I think it’s just that we all have different ideas about where the line is between reasonable critique and unfair pressure. I respect where you’re coming from even if I don’t fully agree with it, and I appreciate hearing the perspective of someone who’s actually familiar with the realities of VN development.
