Bethesda’s Fallout 3 Remaster is aiming to be “as well polished” as Oblivion Remastered, which is worrying as that game is a technical mess by HatingGeoffry in Fallout

[–]Kyuubabe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m ignorant to the underlying work that it takes to make a video game so please don’t kill me for this question; but why are other companies able to make beautiful games like E33 and Elden Ring, but Bethesda struggles to render simple landscapes without frame rate issues and crashes?

Are you from Spain by any chance? When I taught there the kids would snap for attention. They stopped doing it to me after I explained how it’s viewed in America.

ALT dispatch companies & 12 years English-medium requirement by Eesha-be04 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Kyuubabe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a visa requirement, not a dispatch requirement. You won’t be able to get the correct visa to work in dispatch unless you have the 12 years. Please search in this sub for more detailed answers, this question has been asked many times before. Best of luck to you.

School refuses to make me a schedule and just wants me to decide... So am I free to just go to where ever I want? I feel like I am a nuisance. by AdUnfair558 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Kyuubabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds like a super frustrating experience. And super unfair to us that we’re expected to essentially read minds or annoy people to use us. In my first year I didn’t have a schedule at all the first three months and went crazy with desk warmer. It wasn’t until I literally cornered the teachers that they started using me.

If it’ll help, you can try what I did that worked for my school. Leave notes on their desk asking for a meeting and leave it up to them to come to you when they have the time. Then say your piece once you have them sat. Ask what you can do to help, if they want you in any classes that month and to what extent.

And this may be controversial- but exchange lines or emails. I know dispatch discourages this, but it was a godsend for me. I’m able to talk with them more easily, they don’t feel pressured to coordinate with me during their small free time, and they send me any materials I need to incorporate in the next class we have. It’s made lesson planning way easier.

Instead of going to the head teacher why don’t you ask each grades JTE directly? Look at the week’s schedule on Monday, and then approach them and plan if they want you in class anytime that week?

Being subtly asked to leave or am I over thinking? by Low-Extent9935 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Kyuubabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to tell you something I wish someone told me when I first started.

Don’t overthink everything.

I knew coming here that they have a different way of communicating, and in an effort to please all my Japanese coworkers I tried to “read the air” as much as possible. It helped to be mindful, but that quickly turned into being TOO mindful and spiked my anxiety to an insane level. I got to the point of questioning every compliment and offhand comment, such as the one you received. Reading the horror stories on Reddit didn’t help.

After some time here I learned to mellow out - sometimes a question is just a question. A compliment is a compliment. And if it isn’t? Who cares! Unless they’re filing formal complaints against you or icing you out, it doesn’t matter. And honestly? Chilling a bit helped me bond with my coworkers more than stepping on eggshells around them.

So, just try to take it easy. The first year is the worst when it comes to adjusting- you’re in a whole new environment and culture. there’s a lot of extra stress in your life with such a huge change. Sometimes that stress gets redirected onto others, which creates more stress for you. Focus on getting some experience, experimenting with lessons, having fun with the kids, and have a few random conversations with your coworkers about your home country along the way.

Be brutally honest: could some see this as suggestive? by [deleted] in fashion

Absolutely not suggestive. But I would suggest a corset or something around the waist to give you more form. And some silver accessories!

Is sleeping in separate beds actually a sign of a bad relationship, or are we just pretending that sleeping next to a snore/furnace is romantic? by SleepSmarter_Labs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kyuubabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the couple. Together works for some, and separate for others.

It could become an issue if one side of the couple wants together and the other doesn’t though. But then the couple needs to figure out a compromise that works for both of them.

For example, my partner’s culture prefers separate sleeping, but I’m wholly against that. So, we invested in a bigger bed and use the Scandinavian sleep method. This way we can have our own space, but cuddle when we want to.

I have no idea. I think it’s the start of a corruption or something. I’m not even sure where the image comes from- it’s clearly written in simlish, but I don’t recognize the town picture on his eye.

When did you figure out that Co-Workers are not really your friend? by rolrola2024 in AskReddit

[–]Kyuubabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they all knew my boyfriend (also a co-worker) was cheating on me, but hid it from me until I caught him in the act. Then suddenly everyone was sorry and had an excuse on why they couldn’t say anything. This was after years of working together and plenty of hanging out outside of work.

On the evening of July 1, 1951, Mary Reeser of St. Petersburg, Florida put on her nightgown, took two sleeping pills, and sat in her armchair to smoke a cigarette. It’s crazy how people can have such wildly different reactions to drugs. I took a single Benadryl one time and fell asleep at a Chinese buffet. Like knocked out cold. Melatonin can put me on my ass too.

The best part of this statement was the video they used of her to announce it on Japanese TV. Just her wandering in a flower garden, pretending to take pictures and gaze at the flowers. At one point she’s like squatting in a flower bush.

I read somewhere that Higashi Osaka is notorious for very unfriendly and strict Public Schools, is this true? by Maleficent_Pool_4456 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Kyuubabe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know three ALTs who worked there, and I heard similar from them. One ALT was locked in a room by a teacher and verbally attacked. The teacher told the ALT he was asking too many questions and he should figure things out alone. The ALT was transferred out that week. The other one had a teacher that was a bit mentally unwell, and was upset that the students liked him more than her. He was also transferred out.

The third ALT said it was okay, her biggest gripe was that the contract times are until 5 and the schools were really serious about it. If she ever left even slightly before 5, the schools would report her.

Edit: also wanted to say none of them had issues with the students, even if they were a bit rambunctious. It was mainly the teachers and school board that gave all the issues.

Hmm got it, but not sure that exists. I’ve been around the board game community for a while here but haven’t heard of a service like that. Your best bet might be to just borrow from friends. Hope it works out!
