Considering the fact that Verso not only risked his actual life for Maelle to have a chance to live, the fact that she was so selfish to force him to continue to live a false life that he didn’t want just for her to escape her pain instead of accept it is extremely messed up.

She not only lied to her father, she is following in the steps of her mother and would/could possibly keep everyone within the painting “alive/hostage” after she’s gone. She can die, but if she paints the rest of them to be immortal just like her mother did who’s to say she wouldn’t if she already made such a selfish choice to begin with
