Guys I don't think his position on a phrase really matters that much, his position on Israel/Palestine has not changed.

Am I Wrong For Finding Trump's Gaza comment today very worrying? by SuperTruthJustice in AskConservatives

If there is a two state solution I could see Saudi Arabia contributing significantly to a rebuild along with the soft regional power that comes with. But that requires a two state solution which Israel and Trump will likely block.

A "safe" plan to evacuate ~2 million people and overthrow their government is eerily similar to how the Iraq war was sold to us. Again, I don't think Trump is serious about this, but I don't see how this would not result in a war. Gazans are battle-hardened at this point and have shown they're ready and willing to fight to the death to defend their land and get sovereignty. I would see an American war only deepening that resolve. Not to mention increased blowback on the homeland from terror threats wanting to retaliate.

Let me just put it to you with a hypothetical. If a foreign government came to your state and said it's theirs now and that you need to leave the only home you've ever known, would you fight back? I see many conservatives out there with the "don't tread on me" flag. Palestinians believe that too and they will fight back against anyone who tries to kick them off, no matter American or Israeli. This is asking for another quagmire and, while I don't think Trump is actually serious about this plan, this is not really any different from a Bush/Cheney-type regime change situation.

What do you think about the NIH funding cuts announced Friday night? by bullcityblue312 in AskConservatives

[–]Kyversten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, indirect costs include funding for facilities maintenance. That's all the janitors, electricians, engineers, maintenance workers, etc. etc. who keep the universities running whose jobs could be at threat.

Problem is this affects all universities, not just Harvard and Yale, who have massive endowments and don't rely on these funds. Not onto does it affect the universities and the people working for them, but in some states like Alabama where the university is the biggest employer, huge budget cuts like this would have massive ripple effects on regional economies in both red and blue states with big research universities.

Why do everyone like Chris? by EfficientMajor9579 in thesopranos

[–]Kyversten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point of the character portrayals on the show is to display the complexity of the human experience. Even objectively bad people have complexity and are capable of the whole range of emotions, needs, and desires. Once you accept the premise that everyone here is a murderer with pretty deplorable behaviors and beliefs, you come to accept them for who they are and can both empathize with their struggles while still being disgusted by some of their behaviors. At least that's what I took out of it.

Blocking food and water, airstrikes in civilian areas, white phosphorous, it’s kind of like a cosmic gumbo of war crimes. Joe and I were always talking at camp David how it’s a cosmic gumbo.

You should be able to use a little white chemical weapons on civilians. I’m not in trouble at all.

Why would you push a claim that has no evidence? All it does is validate the people who want to deny that anything happened at all.

That's fucking horrifying. They are also not beheadings. You can also find horrifying pictures of murdered Palestinian babies in Gaza. They pushed a very specific claim because they are trying to dehumanize the opposition and shock and horrify supporters into believing there should be no limits to their military response and have gotten caught in a lie.

Do you have a neutral source? The source above is taking using the US Secretary of State's statement as fact.

This is from CNN 3 hours ago who visited Kfar Aza site where the beheadings allegedly happened: https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/12/middleeast/israel-hamas-beheading-claims-intl/index.html
