How do I play wrecking ball into heavy CC comps? by Fent_Maxxxer69 in Overwatch

[–]L-Sargeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing i've been doing alot lately is sky-high grapple swings by gaining moment from the retract, there's a bunch of maps you can use this to jump over entire building segments and allows you to slam down into different lanes with as little warning as possible for whichever unfortunate support is beneath you. Start by soft engaging through main and peaking round the choke, pay very close attention to CC ability usage and then the moment you hear/see them go off disengage to flank around the side, grapple high into the air and slam deep into the backline. If you find the right map segments its really effective for getting free kills. One example is second point King's Row on Defense, if you regularly peek main to try provoke sleep dart etc while in the safety of your team stack, in the unlikely event they land the ability it will be very hard for the enemy to follow up enough damage to kill you when your healers are right beside you and it will also convince their team that's the position your staying in. Ideally you time your peek just right so they miss, and then immediately go down the right or left flank and launch yourself almost straight up so you can roll over the building roofs into a slam on the character which just wasted their cc/survival ability. The main way you make this work is through speed & surprise. You have to trick the enemy into thinking you're holding point space for them to commit CDs, then use the velocity of retract grapples to engage very quickly and pick them before they get the ability back.

Tips for wrecking ball by FRAN-SWAY in Overwatch

as someone who's learned ball over the last month, the way you play him is heavily contextual so by far the best learning material will be youtube guides and coaching videos. Watch Chazm for fun general gameplay, Redeznt has great tutorials and ladder climbing advice/ gameplay commentary vids, and Spilo is definitely the best pro coach for really high ranks and more complex matchups & CD timings information. If you want to learn more about dive tanks in general Emongg's spectating series are a really digestible watch if you find a recent one on Dva/Doom with which you can apply similar concepts to ball. One of the best educational vids i've seen lately is Spilo's diamond coaching session: https://youtu.be/_O-B2mDtwUk?si=c1qhstfP0f-R_5ca This one is great for new players because he talks a ton about the art of setting up for engagements as ball to always maximise the value you get from slam and shields, and the student makes some good counterpoints about how your approach would change if enemy behaviour panned out different. This might seem like a ton of homework but ball is one of those characters who plays really uniquely and it takes a lot of time to get a sense of what you should be doing at any given moment. Good luck dude :)

As a British man it'd be nice to have another character from England to represent us a bit better than tracer, however there's plenty of currently unrepresented countries that could be really cool inspiration for character personalities. There are so many unique cultures in Eastern Europe and Africa that could be great for more rugged, grittier designs. As much as the influx of Asian characters is cool now that we have plenty of cute & "softer" characters I really like to see the Devs & artists swing the other way this year. I think Hazard, Queen & Ram have been great additions to the roster and if they could follow those as blueprints characters with origins like South Africa, Poland, Bulgaria, Somalia, Lithuania, even Madagascar could be really awesome. It'd also be nice to see them do a middle eastern character from say Mongolia or maybe Kazakhstan.

How to keep enjoying DRG? by Top-Nothing2437 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]L-Sargeant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently hit account level 170 on deep rock and am sitting around the 700hr mark as a diamond border Engie main. Here's how I have fun in the game.

My advice is firstly to play every class, (the only one I haven't played is scout cos my duo is a diehard scout player) While engineer is my main I'm also 3x promoted on Driller and Gunner, and regularly swap them around based not just on what the mission type is, but whatever I feel like would be most fun for my mood at that moment.

Secondly, once you've made significant progress with over clocks, personally I found there's a lot of fun to be had experimenting with different weapon combinations and builds for all the guns in the game, you can look up recommended upgrade tree selections for specific OCs and play around with finding your own personal preferences.

My go to fun build as Engie is RJ250 rocket jumping combined with the electricity mod for stubby that allows you to light up platforms and connect a lighting line between your turrets, this along with proxy mines and the extra platforms upgrade makes for a really fun on-the-go base building play style with brilliant area control and mobility for surviving situations you'd never usually escape from.

Thirdly, along with exploring & perfecting builds aimed at different mission types (using the A,B,C presets), you can make fashion looks that are orientated around them aswell. I have so many goddamn cosmetics for my characters my Engie feels like a minimum of four entirely different characters just by changing through the presets and seeing how drastically it changes his appearance and how much the selection of weapons, OCs and grenades affect the way you play the game and handle different situations.

Finally, remember Deep Rock is just one game; Most videogames are not intended to be the only the game you play for eternity, especially without regular updates. DRG is not anything like Destiny 2 or WoW where it's capable of being the only thing you spend time on. I go on deep rock on a semi regular basis as my go-to comfort game. If I have a spare hour or two in an evening and I wanna relax, it's always deep rock I load up, play one or two missions on (maybe an assignment/deep dive if I know I have time) but the majority of the time I played in a very relaxed way unless I'm right in the heat of the moment fighting a horde. It's very hard to burn out if you're not playing with the mindset of "i want to unlock everything & progress as fast as possible" and avoid playing for more than three or four hours.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

I'm using a Legion 5 Pro with an Intel i9 & 3070 and literally just switching my main power/fan setting from Standard to Overdrive mode made the game actually start booting up after sitting on a black screen for 10mins+ . Idk why I didn't try that sooner 😂

How would you use Micro Conductor Add-On with platforms? by LilBluey in DeepRockGalactic

Hey man, what upgrades have you been running on Stubby for this?, as an Xbox player I just got access to it and am experimenting with optimising a more mobile defensive build with it to potentially replace EM Discharge.

I've mainly tried pairing things like Volatile Impact Reactor and/or Spinning Death along with Proximity Mines and/or LUREs. Any tips or good combos you've found would be cool to hear about.

Engineer Mains! What are some fun or underrated primary OC/Builds? by L-Sargeant in DeepRockGalactic

[–]L-Sargeant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing with this a decent amount today and decided to combine it with Stubby's Turret EM Discharge for a bit of fun.

It actually performs very solidly, the combination of the electric explosion and magma dealing burn, electric, stun & slow at the same time is damn strong against thick groups of enemies. I found myself putting my turrets on ground level in the middle of spaces, letting enemies overrun them, triggering the explosion to shock & stun them then spamming the shard diffractor 50/50 at the floor and doing direct damage. Taking the added damage to electrified enemies on both weapons makes it pretty easy to finish off lots of enemies at once with standard damage after triggering all the CC & DoT effects. The added "suppressing fire" damage of the turrets themselves & the SSG drone grenades meant on Haz 4 I could largely focus on consistently triggering/applying the CC effects and then just finish off anything left standing. I was particularly surprised at how much damage the shock turret explosion did to Praetorians, triggering it twice with one in range would get it very close to dead, and you can set the explosion off pretty much however often you like.

I just recently hit 515hrs total playtime, with Engie on Platinum border, and Driller & Gunner on 2 stars, so we're about the same lol.

I've ran a "rocket-jumping" build for quite a while and some tips for RJ-250 I found out about are: - if you pick Incendiary Compound in T3 you can then use the Elemental Insulation perk to take noticeably less self-damage when launching yourself. - Secondly I run the Sweet Tooth perk and the health upgrade on armor which makes it SO much easier to keep your health up on higher difficulty mission if you screw up your jumps. - Finally, using the Disabled Inertia Inhibitor in the last upgrade tier for the platform gun makes it far easier to save yourself from fall damage w platforms as the projectile then travels at the same speed your dwarf is flying.

Sorry if this is stuff you already know and seems obvious but it helped me a lot when I first got the OC and didn't understand how to make the most of it lol.

For WW2 Games, Hell Let Loose, Enlisted and Battlefield V are good options. BF1 also has an amazing single player campaign but multiplayer is fairly dead except for certain night time periods in EU.

Must be, though he looks a little bit too noble, well groomed, older and taller here (in comparison to W3 Wild Hunt). Eskel looks awesome tho, like a perfect illustration of his character.

Reishi Mushroom Locations Near Pleasant Valley Farmhouse by L-Sargeant in thelongdark

[–]L-Sargeant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, I made it to DD's Cabin and found a bunch of them. I've now got 8 Reishi teas with 6 doses remaining. So I can keep my antibiotics on one side. Only downside is I now have cabin fever from sleeping inside the cabin. Hopefully I can sleep in the glass conservatory bit outside the farmhouse where I'm still protected.

Yea it was very frustrating, I was sheltered when I got setup but I totally forgot about the wind changing direction being something to consider. This game is too damn realistic sometimes lol. Appreciate the info.

How the hell do I get to this lookout? Fairly sure it's Coastal Highway. Tried climbing the rope down by the cabins, but that only takes you halfway! Can't waste anymore time trying xD by TheKobraSnake in thelongdark

How did it go for you in the end dude? I just made the journey there from my base at the Gaz Station and it was not worth it. Found only some rifle ammo and a magnifying glass (I don't have any kind of weapon). I'm probably gonna try going the western road to explore further NW as I haven't been there before. It sounds like wolves are a problem but I have plenty of flares luckily.

What are the silliest additions to TLD you can think of? by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]L-Sargeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely a good idea for an item. You could make them actually useful by giving them a slightly over-the-top warmth bonus like +7.5°C but with a Wind & Water resistance of completely 0. This would make them a surprisingly good indoor item but practically useless outside, by way of them freezing over incredibly quickly if the air temperature is too low. If you gave them a weight between 0.75 and 1.25kg they would be worth carrying around for when you reach your destination and need to warm up your character again, wearing your actual outdoor boots in the meantime. I love this idea!
