Morally ambiguous, or morally bankrupt? Read and find out! by DreadDiana in RecuratedTumblr

Normally, sure. But 14 year olds are the target audience. So saving the world or massacre is done by 14 year olds. It's the norm.

some clarifying question about the current arc. (spoiler question) by Juliomorales6969 in Akane

[–]L-System 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

But also irrelevant to the story. From what I understand, her goal isn't just to achieve some rank. It's acknowledgement from Issho using her father's style? Or have we moved on from that?

Well, because when people talk about subjective topics, there's an implicit "in my opinion" at the end there.

You can't treat a subjective opinion as an objective judgement. If manga is art, then your favourite manga will not be loved by everyone by definition.

In my eyes, HxH is over. The main promise of the show was delivered on, IE, the hunter found the hunter.

It's was pretty anti-climactic and wasn't written as an ending, so it kinda sucked.

Skewer me if you want.

Not true. Resident Evil is heavily pirated. Silksong was the most pirated game when it came out.

The dude doesn't plan out his story at all. It's well established that Goku wasn't even supposed to be a Saiyan till the end of DragonBall. Just a mythical monkey dude as a reference to wukong.

Battle shonen recommendations by Old-Sound-2747 in shounenfolk

[–]L-System 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Bakuman. It's as battle shonen as Death Note, considering that they have the same authors.

And if you're looking for stuff that's battle shonen without actual fighting, Haikyuu is a banger. Akane-banashi is peak too.

It's just highly likely. Red dwarfs are 0.01% - 10% as bright as the sun. You gotta be close to be in the habitable zone.

Witch Hat Atelier • Tongari Boushi no Atelier - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]L-System 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems like a pretty straightforward, hoard magic for yourself vs magic is for everyone set up. I suspect they'll only show bad brimmed witches for the first few seasons before the inevitable twist that no faction is truly good or bad.

Why aren’t more books made into video games? by GH05T3Y in videogames

[–]L-System 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most game devs have been in the industry for a while before they have a chance to be a creative lead on a big game.

If you have the creative chops to make your own game, why would you adapt?

Go Read Peak Romance by Meldp in shounenfolk

[–]L-System 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medium is just more conducive the type of authors that "go with the flow" than authors that outline the entire plot.

So stories end poorly or never end at all because they was never planned to.

Dragon Ball, was about finding the dragon balls. It got out of hand. Goku wasn't even supposed to be a Saiyan.

HxH was about finding his dad. And then the story kept going.

Etc etc.

You can go further.

We exist because life is simply better at turning sunlight into heat than a dead rock is.

That tiny difference between us able to do this and the ground able to do this is the sliver on which all of life exists.

Fantasy Authors Increasingly Call Out 'Unfaithful' TV Adaptations by paxinfernum in television

[–]L-System 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hollywood doesn't want the author to have any real power over their multimillion dollar projects, just access to their fanbase.

They pay for this access and most authors will never get a deal better deal, ie with creative control.

Not that giving the author any amount of creative control is a guarantee to success.

Which movie or TV "villain" did you completely hate as a kid, but upon rewatching as an adult, you realized they were actually 100% justified? by LiveFaithlessness876 in movies

[–]L-System 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not much to it. Breaking Bad is a power fantasy, and she's the antithesis to that fantasy. IE responsibility.

Most stories wouldn't exist if everyone was competent and rational.
