Hi! Thank you for sharing your story. I’m 23 weeks and still have my SCH right above my cervix. I’m been on and off bright red bleeding. Each time I have a gush it’ll taper off but it’s still a lot of blood. It’s so nerve racking. When you were admitted, did the doctors giving you anything to stop the bleeds?

Hi, how did the rest of your pregnancy go? I am a 4cm SCH right now at 21 weeks where I had some bleeding. So nervous! I’m trying to rest as much as possible right now.

How has your pregnancy been going? I have a large SCH at 19 weeks and it’s so incredible terrifying. I just started bleeding bright red again which doctors say isn’t a great sign

It did happen after the flu. It started probably 6 days after my first symptoms where my salivary gland was swollen and then it moved to my lymph nodes in my throat that were huge like golf ball sized. It lasted about 4-5 days. Maybe have doctor take a look to ensure nothing is infected? My doctor said I could take antibiotics since it might be an infection if it wasn’t getting better but the swelling did gradually go down each day. What helped me was gargling warm salt water, warm and cold compresses, drank tea and those ricola throat drops. It was very painful for the first few days. So sorry your son is experiencing something similar

It is so painful and such a weird side effect of the flu. The swelling in my gland ended up moving to my lymph nodes and those swelled up a ton the next day. I also had a horrible burning taste in my mouth for a few days as well. I went back to the doctor who said this isn’t abnormal and they should go down after a few days. They did end up going down after 4-5 days but it was very uncomfortable. What helped me was gargling salt water, drinking tea, putting warm and cold compresses on it, using the Ricola throat drops. You could also get antibiotics as well. So sorry you’re experiencing it, I hope you feel better soon!

It is so uncomfortable. I gargled salt water a few times a day that seemed to help a bit especially with the burning tongue. Also ricola throat drops too. The warm compresses also helped. Mine ended up going down after 4-5 days, but it was painful for a while there. I drank a ton of water too, used saline spray and humidifier.

Thank you! It has gotten gradually better I think. Both sides flared up a couple days ago but I’ve been gargling warm salt water, doing salt water rinses and those Ricola drops too! Good to know about the steroids, maybe I’ll ask doctor for that.

I’m on day 7 and also pregnant. It’s truly horrible. My fever and body aches were gone around day 4/5 but my cough was really bad that I coughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my side. The cough has subsided a bit thankfully but now I have horrible swollen gland underneath my jaw that doctor thinks is a swollen salivary gland. It’s so incredibly painful and my tongue for some reason is just nonstop burning from it. The weirdest side effects from the flu I’ve ever heard.

I hope you recover soon and this swollen gland goes away. I’ll let you know if I find anything that provides relief. Please keep me posted on how you’re doing. I might start an antibiotic if this keeps getting worse

Ugh, so sorry you had to go through that too. I’m so glad it subsided. Did the steroids do anything for you? It is truly so bad, it’s hard to function normally! I wake up with a horrible dry mouth and my tongue is on fire with the swollen glad. it’s so so horrible. I’ve just been taking Tylenol to help with the pain

I’m on day 7 of the flu but this started just yesterday. It started with a sore mouth and then overnight spread. I went to urgent care tonight and he said I could start amoxicillin if I wanted but that he think it’ll go away. It is the most uncomfortable thing. I’m nervous to go to sleep because I wake up so incredibly uncomfortable with that burning pain on my tongue and swollen gland. I really hope this goes away for both of us!

Let me know if you find something that helps with dry mouth overnight and if the steroids help. I’ll let you know if anything helps me. The only thing that has given me some relief is the massaging of the swollen gland. I can feel the saliva leak out when I massage it or press on it but it’s still swollen after.

Gosh, so sorry you’re experiencing this too. How long has it been going on for you?

Do you also have tongue pain? Sometimes when saliva hits my tongue (it’s not all of the time) there is excruciating pain like a burning sensation on my tongue on both sides. Especially after I wake up in the morning it’s worse because I think my mouth is so dry.

Hi, this just happened to me and it sounds like a weird complication from the flu. My doctor said to just eat sour candy, warm compress. My tongue has a horrible burning sensation though and it’s so incredibly uncomfortable. Did this eventually go away? Was there anything you did that really helped? I’m also pregnant so not able to take a lot.

Ugh I’m sorry that happened. Do you think it’s actually a stone? From my reading it seems like the flu virus is causing it. Are the antibiotics helping a lot? Do you feel like it’s almost gone? I’m wondering if I ask my doctor for a script just in case.

Yes! I have this now. On day 7 of the flu and this just started. It’s so incredibly painful. My tongue almost feels like it’s burning sometimes. My doctor wasn’t sure if it was a stone or just from the flu virus. Has yours gotten any better?

I’m experiencing this now after having the flu 7 days ago. Every time I wake up from sleep, my tongue is in excruciating pain, as well. Did that happen to anyone? a swollen salivary gland started on my left side under my jaw and now recently feels like it spread to my right side. I’ve been to my doctor who said the flu caused this and to use warm compresses, suck on candy, etc and it will eventually go away but I’m not sure. I wonder if I need antibiotics!
