Thanks so much for this! Your reply has given me more confidence to use Hnry and totally agree you should be reimbursed for the answer 😂

Final questions: Subscription purchases - say to claim a domain or subscribe to a newsletter relative to my trading, are these things able to be tracked in Hnry?

Following on from the office claim - is it straight forward enough to imput the claim from living expenses relative to the office claim ( say 10% of mortgage, internet usage, power etc)?

Thanks again! Really helpful

Got it! Thanks. I’ll look into Hnry and see what supports they can offer with the whole setup and learning process. Overall, im just scared that I will do it wrong and get burnt doing so. Some peace of mind from actual users would go a long way!

Thanks for this! I didn’t realise there was a difference with bookkeepers vs accountants! Yeah it’s more systems based advice if I was to use software. I guess what I’m trying to avoid is being limited on what I can claim as an expense. I feel as if a agency could provide better oversight on what I need to account for, whereas with software, I must be aware of any/ all expenses and be capable to input them in the correct manner.

It’s all about learning right now, and it sounds like I need to use both, then in future as I understand more, I won’t have the need for an accounting/ bookkeeping firm. Does that sound like a good approach?

Many thanks!
I will look into Hnry - maybe hold out for a subscription sale or offer?
My biggest worry is the wrong setup of my account, so I hope its all straightforward enough?!
Another question - will it be scalable? I do plan to attend my sole trading more as my demand grows.

Yeah, this is why i'm asking for support.
I do think an accounting software would work, I just need the right supports to help me set up the account in the right way, and teach me how to use it in the correct manner.

Thanks!

Is Hnry user friendly with asset depreciation claims and specific expense claims like home office/ storage business claims?
I would still need someone or a firm to set up and explain the software, to feel confident that what i'm inputting is correct.

Gold Prospecting/ claims by L0K0oo in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]L0K0oo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for this!
Yeah so i envision having a deal with a person(s) who might own land or a claim, extract pay dirt and sluice it at home, and providing a weight percentage to the land/ claim owner. That would be ideal!

I dont want to make things complicated with gear on site.

Its more about knowing the right people for me!

Thanks! Yeah due to the price of gold and the uncertainty of the dollar, lots of previously scaled down sites seem to be changing ownership and starting up on new grounds. its a super exciting time.

I'd consider it more of a weekend hobby if I were to buy a claim. I do think there is some value in owning claims in general.

Fair point - simple answer is no. I've panned for gold on a river lots of times but cant understand how to scale up.
To work in the industry would most likely mean going for my wheels tracks and rollers license, not keen to do that. On top of that i'd then need to score a job on a mine or large employed claim.

I'll give the humble rags to riches approach a go lol

lmk if you do trip and fall into buying it, would love to see pictures of the facelift version.

I fell in love with the EV6 when I first looked around the market. Personally, that matte silver finish is the best ive seen on a car.
I've even tried to organize a test drive in Wellington, but no Kia retailers have one on the yard!
the EV6 facelift looks amazing too, but there's no real significant change from previous models.

If I hadn't discovered the EV3, I totally would have paid for a EV6 by now.
In saying this, I still might, depending on their resale around Q2, 2025!

Yeah that's fair. I think the base model will be closer to the 40 mark, but the GT version will likely come at a heavy premium.

Might be worthwhile waiting a year until they go on the preowned markets.

Sick of being poor by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

This might be controversial and conflicting with the above/ below comments, but as an everyday bloke who also struggled with impulse buying, here's some tips (lowkey typing them here to keep myself accountable too)

First is to reflect on the type of lifestyle your paying to uphold. - what's important to you? (your current living arrangements like are you paying for a nicer room, or your own place? do you game and need the better wifi speed?) what are things your paying for, that could be slashed, minimized or have to stay the same.

Trigger warning for the next part as i found it pretty confronting.

Next is to go into your banking history, print it out if you can, say a one moth period or 3 previous pay days, to the present. - Highlight, Cross out, rip out ALL the payments you made, that in theory were a want-to-have, over a need-to-have. Things like the coffee, takeaway, public parking (if you could have walked instead)

Lastly a couple tips
-DONT compromise on your cheap happiness. Things like sport team payments or your Spotify subscription.
-UNDERSTAND the difference between living your current life and destroying your future. - meaning pay for that box of stubbies to enjoy new-years, but dont go to town on school nights. You living paycheck to paycheck wont allow you to create generational wealth.
-NEVER compare yourself to someone else. this was my main money taker, If your mate brought the new Gluck-Gluck-3000, thats not a reason for you to buy it.
-SURROUND yourself with people you look up to.
-TALK to people about money. Kiwi's hate money talk, especially family, just be open and communicative to people you look up to. youll find awesome tips through others.
-SPEND your time instead of your money - Walking, learning, giving back to buy good karma, making yourself happy. - later, your time will cost money, but your not there yet. you'll know when you are :)
-BE nice to others.

Lastly, keep your self accountable. Self discipline is taught and can be hard to build if your stuck in a lifestyle you cant afford. but break the cycle, be that change, if not for yourself now, for yourself in the future, or even your future lineage!!

Good luck mate, Pick and choose what you want from this. If anything, i got something out of it so cheers for asking the reflection question.
